It's here, and it's pretty cool. $120 @ JB HiFi in Preston.

Now I can plug the iPod into the head-unit, it'll charge, control the iPod from the head-unit and uses the dock plug instead of the line-out... so better/louder sound! I got mine yesterday, now I just have to hook it up.

Ah, iPod and car stereo working as one. It's a beautiful thing. :D
Gotta love Apple's plug and play. Hook it up and it just works.

Yeah, I'll see if I can take some pics today of how I mounted it on the dash.
And the sound quality is great! Good volume too. It's just like playing an MP3 CD. So the better the quality of the MP3s, the better the sound.
I don't know how they do it, 'cos my hu can't play MP3. I guess the iPod converts it to a format the hu can understand and then the hu plays it. It's different to the old one, 'cos that used the line out on the iPod, this one uses the dock connector. So the hu is playing it instead of the iPod. I'm not sure exactly how it works but it definitely sounds great! Best $120 I've spent on the car so far!
So yeah, you can tell I'm pretty happy about it. :D
I'll get the digital camera our today and have pics up here later tonight.

Haha, take it easy. I've taken the pics, I'll put them up tonight when I get 'em on the puter.
It was a very easy installation. The trickiest bit was hooking up the power. Had to connect the power and ground to the wires from the back of the hu. But it was colour coded, so piece of cake. A set of snips, pliers and electrical tape... and I used solder for a better connection. The rest was plugs and trying to keep it neat.
You can basically mount it wherever you like (as long as it's away from heater vents/pipes). It comes with velco strips for sticking it to any flat surface.
Anyway, pics coming soon.

Good stuff.
I like the adapter because when I listen to the iPod all day at work, it runs out of battery about the time I clock off. With this adapter, the iPod charges while it plays. Which will also be awesome for trips, 'cos I wont have to take the charger.
One downside is not having all the iPod features. It's a bit trickier to select tracks and artists to play. But I'm getting used to the controls.

What's wrong with iPods? They look nice, store 40GB of music, the interface and scrolling is brilliant and you can use them to transport files. If I want to show my mates an awesome video on the net, especially if they have dial-up, I just take the iPod, hookit up to their comp and there you go... Top Gear on their computer.
I like my iPod. And now it's part of my sound system. No need to bother burning compilation CDs or swapping from one CD to anotherwhile driving.

That’s a fairly good device. I have my PDA hooked up to my head unit, though AUX which is good but obviously u can’t control the PDA with the head unit but still works well.
