This is a nooby question re: Toda trumpets.
I been discussing with a friend about getting trumpets for a Dc2r.
1. Is there enough clearance in the engine bay for trumpets to fit without cuttin a hole/scoup in the bonnet. Most cars i've seen have cut their bonnets to fit the trumpets in.
2. What type of power gain is behind it
3. How loud is it really in real life? DB rating? Would it be loud as a buddy club spec 2 zorst.
3. Is there away of legalising it?
4. Someone told me u can get some type of silencer for them. TRUE false
5. any extra info i would need to know regarding trumpets for dc2r.

afaik u would need like an airbox around them to get them engineered too. they are noisy bastards.

TODA Racing sports injection is not recomended for cars intended for the street.
Though it looks cool...
http://www.toda-racing.co.jp/product/parts/injection/b16.jpg
You need a good tuner & a good ECU + additional hardware to make the most out of it.
If you don't yet have cams, pistons headwork etc...
Honestly, the value for performance dollar isn't there yet.
That said, the average power gain on a B18 with no other changes is 35hp @5500rpm & 10hp top end. More is available through total tuning.
For best results, head must be welded & port shape changed to suit outboard injectors.
Clearence is no problem, some items on the fire wall should be re-located though.
Regarding loud, they're really loud...
Have you heard Z10's EGK20A at the drags?
Now that's how loud we're talking...
Unless you shut it up, you will get booked for noise... No question.
Re: Suitable Airbox / Plenumn. (Making it legal / some kind of silencer etc)
Something like this TWM product is what is required. http://www.twminduction.com/

Let me know if you need a sports injection kit, we have one in stock.
Hope that helps, cheers

ecu? Power FC enough or something like motec?
I've only done the cams and cam gears never really thought bout doin pistons and head work. Thought i'd skip it and get quads. I was orginally thinking of boostin my car instead but then thought mayb keep na. Darno just running through few ideas.
Anyone have clip or sound file of any car with quads?

Really research your options before jumping the fence to ITB.
For one thing - you NEED aftermarket ECU / map sensor setup to cope with the 4 throttles ....let Adrian ( TODA AU) or any other pros fill u in.
They are attractive and yes , i COULD get relieved via z10's K20 ITB's....but THINK of what other mods are needed to make the most of such a setup. Do all those first - if not happy or jsut rich lay out the cash and say hullo to carb'ed V8 idle :)

hondar is correct about swallowing dirty shit. IMO ITB's should be kept on the circuit. not only will you get EPA'd 10 times a day and swallow a shit load more fuel, but the chance of swallowing bad air and all the rest of it increases
great idea and its music to anyones ears, but keep it off the street.

I dont see whats wrong with the idea providing you back it up with the appropriate mods. I know a couple of guys running ITB's on the street without problems.

Foam filters can be put on each trumpet or they can be put into an airbox with filter attached.
What do you mean by swallow more fuel?

he mean ur fuel consuption will be crap. Not only that the amount of tuning needed to have these is heaps and very hard to tune right but when its done right the results are awesome. But there extremely loud as

the biggest issue with timing is finding an ecu set up that's capable of doing a hybrid tps/map fuel map instead of just a map sensor based map. They aren't really as unstreetable as most people seem to think because most people think of them being tuned on just a map based fuel map

Everyone is saying that it's too hard/too expensive to set them up for the street but seriously, if you can afford them in the 1st place, you can definitely afford an aftermarket ECU and the cost of tuning it. Yes they are loud and will swallow dirty air if you leave the trumpets exposed but only an idiot would drive around in urban traffic without an air filter. Have a look at the silver and black top 4AG 20-valve engines from the AE101 Levin for an idea about a successful airbox setup for street use with quad-throttle-bodies. If they can do quads from the factory on a mass produced car, any tuner worth his salt could do an aftermarket setup for the street..
but u defeat alot of the gainsof a ITB setup with a plenum, IMO.

TODA QTB is around 3.3k with Trumpet...not like 4.4k dude...
who gave u that quote?? well i bought it over a year ago and i did pay $4500 for it landed.. i think many ppl mis-understand that we have to pay tax on the parts for customers so we add it onto the price.. we are not doin any customs tax frauds like other ppl can do coz we are a registered business.. so u have to add customs tax on it as well...
that was staff price from TODA... i work at TODA... so if u find it for 3.3k ur laughing...
but yes the price of it has gone down now due to the exchange rate...
but not 3300...
but seriously i would sell it for $3500 to anyone.. just to get rid of it... u wouldnt have to wait.. i have it here under my bed at home..
i dun have a B-series engine anymore???
so yes there is a bit of truth in wat u say...
go to our site.. www.todaracing.com.au
there are pics there of the TODA QTB i have...

The reason that quads are not always used is that they are very hard to tune especially as you need to tune each chamber and then get them to work together.
The way the 4age 20v engines get away with it is that it uses a pendulm to actually have one intake point, thus easier to tune.
The 20v that i have seen are tuned with after market computers, and they have foam filters on each trumpets to keep the noise down.

that, and it's basically impossible to tune itb's on a map sensor based ecu. You have to either convert to tps based or a map/tps hybrid.
