On the DC2 Integras Vtec kicks in at 4400rpm, then at 6000rpm, the secondary intake opens up...that's what you hear the 6000rpm...

It's called inertia... the needle is not accurate when you "feel" VTEC kick in... maybe since you got the car, the needle may have loosened up a bit and inertia takes it further than before... or maybe its just the speed the needle is travelling at and you "see" it kick in at what looks to be a higher rpm.

Try accelerating slowly past VTEC point and you should see it still kicks in at the same place...

No point getting VTEC Controllers either... Honda designed VTEC to kick in at that point for a reason and I'm sure you can trust that they picked the best point for it too...

Get your car serviced at Hanny's in Smithfield if you live in Sydney... ask Robert... But I'm pretty sure there is nothing wrong with your VTEC...

nothing to do with inertia. check the definition of the term

Accelerating slowly will actually make the VTEC cut in a bit later

its the other way around. the intake runners open first which is the first click you hear, then Vtec engages at 6000rpm...
the click that were hearing could off been the first which is at 4500rpm. which could of confused you...
i dunno, just thought id try help you out abit....
and btw... Vtec doesnt fall off. these guys try to play tricks on newcomers...
LoL :)

okay well i failed physics and dropped the subject and i also failed English... go figure... what i meant is the force that pushes something... it is moving so fast that it "looks" like it is at 6000 instead of 5500 rpm... u guys know what i mean...

and i also didn't know that if u accelerate slower that the VTEC point engages later... that sounds funny though coz i thought by design and program, VTEC will engage at the exact same rpm at about 5600-5700... shouldn't this be consistent no matter how fast or slow you accelerate?

i ahve tried fast and slow and even slow acceleration "shows" it engages at around 56 or 5700...

Try resetting ur ECU see how that goes just pull out ur ECU fuse in the engine bay. As this supposely makes your ECU identify any new changes that your car has made and helps the performance. :)

i've actually read this somewhere in the forum that because the needle cluster are made of coils (something like that or rather), when the needle swings (accelerates up the rpm) and when you change it, it will take some time for it to slow down and fall back down before going up again. i can't find the post. But i remember it was someone asking 'what rpm does the ecu fuel cut'. Some were saying 8000rpm, and other were saying its 8200rpm

you are asking someone else to be more 'clearer'?

here's a hint: try reading/checking your post for syntax and spelling before you post it?

yes if u take off the stock airbox covere you will hear 2 changes in induction note, the first at 4400rpm and then at 5800rpm (the big onE). vtec is actually pretty hard to hear, its the secondaries that we hear and love :D

Vtec fell off hahahahahahahah u funny guyz u funny guyz

[twins]vtec
21-05-2005, 04:26 PM
yeah check ur oil level
vtec should kick in at 4400
secondaries at 5800
and ur fuel cut should be at 8250

vtecinaccord
23-05-2005, 10:56 AM
Hook up a LED to the VTEC wire and then you konw for sure... but that is only if it kicks in at 5500 not the 2 stage.. as mentioned above.. also vtec varys my accord kicks in at full throttle 2300 and light throttle at 3200

redliner
23-05-2005, 11:13 AM
yeah you can always get a VTEC light if you are unsure when the vtec kicks in...

by the looks of it here, noone is sure of your problem. better off to go consult a workshop so they can inspect it.
