hey all, my car is speed limited...at around 185 kph.

What is weird though is that i had it on a hoist and we enaged it in gear to reproduce a vibration we were chasing.....I was driving the car, i put it in 5th and gave it a good rev, the speedo well past the 185kph speed limiter.

Does the speed limiter only work when there is load on the car?

Can anyone explain this?

That's something new.
Well, think about it, how does a speedo work?
Pretty sure it's got something to do with the turning of the wheels, that turns some gears, which in-turn moves the needle.

I could be wrong.

Is the limiter controlled via an ECU at all? :o

yeh, the speed limiter is electronically controlled by the ecu.

Dang, the speedo swung around to the 6 o'clock position at around 7000rpm, shame in real life there would be too much wind resisitance and not enough power to crack 240-250kph
