View Full Version : [EG] Alternative airboxes?

So I'm curious to know what alternative larger airboxes are available to put into an EG Si?
I'm not a big fan of pods, and don;t want the hassle of a defect if a copper decides they don't like it either, so a larger or better flowing airbox seems the way to go.
Something like the ARC boxes with panel on top or bottom or something? No idea. Or something from an ITR?
Ideas, thoughts, pics, prices...help me out :\

try to find anythign with a 50-60 mm outlet ( to bolt onto the stock EG intake arm) - pop in the appliciable airfilter and ANYTHING will work :)
Oh, local - DC airboxes are decent - im sure other honda ones can fit too.

anyone thought of making and airbox out of mild steel/carbon fibre/fibre glass with a panel top, sucking are from under the bonnet(similar to VS- commonwhores) and bigger panel bottom (through the usual port). Attached to the TB with a stock SiR 3in intake pipe?
Be a pretty easy job. Anyone tried it? If not I have a new and stupid, but potentially fun project. lol.

sikcvc a mate tried it with his pug. bought a roll of carbon fibre, still in its material stage and crafted a box that sits nicely behind the headlight with a uni filter inside.
looks cool too!
but carbon aint the easiest sh!t to play with.

pfft... I can deal with fabrication but if its been done, I have no need to. lol. besides I still feel a pod is the best solution.

ITR boxes looks the same as a normal one.
You could buy a drop in panel filter, take the renator and just make a cold air pipe to the front bumper. I've done it on my EG and is really good.

will everything fit even the reso??
the EG one sits above the wheel arch whereas the DC one sits on a bracket above the tranny....

i wouldve done this too.
easiest option there is.
the eg airbox has 2 outlets or inlets or w.e lol, that connects to the resonator.
the airbox is a 2 piece thing .. and the bottom bit isnt one piece with the resonator, which is good :/
id just take out the reso and make something to hold the airbox up.
a pod is so much easier though, lol
goodluck =]
