Use genuine Honda MTF (Manual Transmission Fluid). Get it from your local Honda dealer. 8)

Do it once a year, cost u nothing, very easy and shifts stay smooth as! The service guide says to do it once every 2 years though.

I don't know where you can get $10 honda gearbox oil, because last time I bought it was like $10 a litre or something like that, and I needed over 3 litres.

I use the genuine stuff, but check your manual as it does have the viscosity range that it recommends.

I change mine every 30,000 kms.

Use genuine Honda MTF (Manual Transmission Fluid) and ONLY genuine Honda MTF. Why? Because aftermarket manual transmission oils don't compare.

Mobil 1 is not the best. As much as i like their engine oils when it comes to replacing my gearbox oil i stick with Honda MTF. I think the retail for a bottle (1L) is about $15 last time i checked.

I just got my crx recently and thinking if i should change it.....have no idea if the previous owner have done it. I guess i should just stick with genuine Honda MTF.

If the gearshifts are smooth there's no point in changing the oil yet. :)

sounds like you are in the same boat as i was. you may want to just change all your filters and oils to make sure. depends how much $$$$$ you have. if you don't have the cash check the dipstick and if the oil looks lokay and the car shifts well don't worry about it.

check the air filter too

Ok, i looked in the manual and located the fill and drain plug. Below is a pic i have taken. Are these the right plugs. Also, what do you use to fill up. Please correct me if i am wrong. Thanks

Just ask for a trades discount. I grabbed 2 bottles and used about 1.5-7L's to fill the box, i got out of it just as much. Each bottle is 1L. I also picked up some front brake pads while i was thier *cough* $130 just for fronts *cough*.

my gears were crunching pretty badly until i changed it with the Honda MTF stuff. It feels a bit notchy but at least if stop the grinding.

Draining the gearbox oil is easy, but putting it in is the tricky part, as the hole is on its side and you cant just poor it in from the top like the engine oil. Some people pour it from the VSS hole, i've tried it, and its a bitch trying to get the bolts off it. The best way is to use a thom thumb utillity pump and pump the oil back in.

couldn't agree with ya more

if ya like me, and after purchasing my teg, thinking its better to change the tranny fluid. dumped in Honda MTF and it fukd my gearbox (after a couple of months)

imo, Honda MTF is shit, and is not performance gear oil.
dump in Redline gear oil, and u'll never need to touch your tranny fluid for the lifetime of the car
fair enough it costs like $100, but its worth it in the end

well, that's my 2 cents anyway
