I'm buying an EG civic in the near future and the first thing i'm going to do is get it handling nice! :)

I'm on a budget being a student so im limited to how much i can spend. I was thinking of the following:

REAR HEAVY DUTY 18-22mm ADJUSTABLE SWAYBAR w/mount kit $210
Whiteline Front + Rear springs $260
Eibachs shocks $480

That's just under a grand and I'll install it myself, what do you guys reckon? Is there anything you would change, or add/remove from what i've got there?
Should I also get a front strut bar?

Front Strut Brace would add value to the handling...
Pretty good price for the Eibach Shockers..

To save some more money i could even just go

Rear Swaybar $210
Springs $260
Front Strut brace $200??

Also, what the hell is a Tie Bar? And should i go for front strut brace or front swaybar?

if talking bars mate, then rear sway bar (super thick) and rear strut tower bar!!

and maybe even rear lower tie bar, front strut bar doesnt do all that much.

as for suspension combo, thats a dam good question many ppl have many different opinions, well known brands r a good place to start

Reading with interest. Also looking to improve the handling in my EG hatch.
Don't want to lower it much, 'cos it's not worth the hassle of speed humps, gutters, etc.

If you don't mind lowering, a bit lower would definitely help the handling. The handling is pretty good. For mine, it could be a bit lower, a bit harder, a bit more rigid.

Don't forget some good rubber.
Good luck.

Yeah sorry thats the price for eibach springs, whoops :)

I think ill just go new springs + rear swaybar, that should improve it a fair bit.

Like i said i dont wanna get heaps of stuff because im on a budget. IMO springs + rear swaybar are probably the best 2 suspension mods to do if you're on a budget. Agree?

if you are going to do it property then you will want spring/shock combination as your first priority, then go for a rear sway bar then the rest.

do not put sports springs on your stock shocks PLEASE. you're handling will deteriorate as it's been said many times before, stock shocks are made to handle stock spring load ratings, putting a smaller spring or harder rating on the shock will quickly kill it.

get some decent springs and some decent shocks and then go with the bars from there.

and ofcourse get decent tyres as aimre said

Yeah i'll be upgrading to 16" wheels as well, so that takes care of that:)

edit: i've had lowered springs with stock shocks in my ford for almost 12 months without a worry. they only seem to **** up and start spitting oil if you go for a superlow spring. i'm just lowering about 30mm

Oi!! I was first to say tyres! :p

Just about everyone here will say get 15s instead of 16s. I took their advice, so I hope they're right. :D

1st step. Get larger rear swaybar.
2nd step. Get good road tyres to suit...
3rd step get full front and rear alignment to tighten it all up....

very basics for a good increase in road handling -
