I've heard of this being done but over in the states. Has any1 here put a D17 crank in a D16?? I know whats involved if I do this mod. I'd just like to know if n e 1 on OzHonda as done this. And B4 u say 'Why bother with a d16, just drop a B16/18 in its place'. This mod would be alot cheaper than a B-series conversion. I know B-series are deffinetly worth the money, and I know by doing this mod it wont come close to the power of a B, I just wanna make do with what i've got. And I've heard if I do this mod right, I should c torque figures same as standard B16A figures.

but as to just install it you likely are looking at $500ish + just labour - PLUS parts....Oh , when you say "d17 crank" do you mean JUST the crank ? OR the actual 1.7l pistons etc ? The block might have to be bored slightly or thinner sleeves to accomadate the .1 litre increase in displacement.
Also , what is the bore x stroke of this d17 compared to teh d16 it is installign into ?

This is all educated theorizing - mind you any pros ofcourse correct me !
The basic thing i realise you want is a 1.7litre engine. I dotn think its going to be cheap. And maybe you are better off concentraing on headwork ( CAI , Header , port and polish , cam etc) and possibly a turbo before touching the bottom end.

The bore x stroke for the D17 is 75 x 94.4mmNo mods have to be done to the block or head. Im wanting to use a D17 crank with B16A rods and suzuki G16 pistons. the suzuki pistons are the same bore size as d16 pistons. D17 crank measures 94.4mm, where the D16 crank measures 90mm. D16 and D17 rods are same size, 137mm. The D17 rods are slightly narrower in the crank journals compared to the D16 rods. The compression height for the D17 pistons is 27mm as opposed to the D16 pistons which is near 30mm. And since the B16A rods are a bit shorter, 134mm, I can use a pistons with no more than 30mm compression height. In order for the B16A rods to fit the D17 crank, the crank journals on the rods need to be narrowed a few mm. And I plan to do most of the internal work myself. I've don my research...

i dont get it... u want to stroke the d16 out a bit? imo the gains wont be there.. the d16y4 head doesnt flow nearly as well as a vtec head and the cams arnt as agressive.
