be safe to say under 1000 a year i think - depending on your rating. I'm with suncorp metway and mine is something like 1400 a year (keeping in mind i'm 18)

hey guys, does any of you have your parents or some one over 25 y.o as your main insurer / policy holder??? otherwise you have to pay a large amount just for under 25 excess.

I paid almost $800 with AMP. in BNE, I am 29. me policy provides me free rental car for up to 14 days if the Euro needs to be at smash repairer.

Honda use CGU for their insurance, try giving them a call. They also have less than 10,000kms per year policy if you drive it less than 10K a year which the insurance is slightly less...

even if you have your parents as the main insurer, if you have the accident you still fork out a massive excess, and that it also ruins your parents NCB rating.

24 with Maximum NCB Rating One, AUD$853 with all my mods declared with Just Cars..

And If I am not wrong, being norminated the second driver does not build up your rating with insurance companies... I think..

My personal experience is that CGU chooses the repairer purely on price and the work is less than satisfactory. They also want the repairer to use exchange parts (meaning repaired bumper bars etc). They do have lifetime warranty on the repair though.

just keep in mind it's hard to determine insurance, also dependent on area.

i know i did a quote for my car for fun of where i lived (north/western) sydney and someone who was inner west, i had to pay close to $800 bux more if i were to move to the inner west.

that's crazy.. but it's sydney for you :b

Gee that is very cheap...Because I put a body kit on mine it costs me around 1300 a year with rating one and 40 years old...and I work for the company I insure with...yuk. I will be changing to Western QBE which is a lot cheaper.

Geez Brisbane has it good...I should move up there!

OT : Insurance needs to be built up.. Be prepared to pay lots more for a car when you are young.. Take me for example, my R33 GTS-T Full Comprehensive Insurance cost me $7000 when I was 19.. It was expensive because at that time, it was the only Manual R33 GTS-T Sedan in Australia

Insurance companies look into the Car, how rare it is, the security rating of the car, how popular it is in the "Stolen List", How new the car is to the market etc etc..

People generally advice new drivers/owners to build up their insurance rating by buying a cheapo car first and then progress to a more luxo build i.e Accord Euro etc :).. But then again, if you can afford the insurance, buy your dream car! :D

honda insurance

every other company i called said the same thing.

The car is also under my business name not mine and is insured for business use as its my work car as well as my home car this also increases premiums.

Peekay - your policy sounds unusually high. I am AAMI - 29 - rating 1 - $705 (inc aftermarket items listed on policy)

Re the $2000 quote - why don't you insure it under your parents name with you nominated as a driver? I did this for years - some people told me not to do that as you don't build a rating. It is bulltish. When I was 25 I was offered rating 1 immediately and never had insurance in my own name before.

If you are a listed driver without any accidents etc, you will benefit heaps.

In my case i wasn't a listed driver, but i was considered one of the 3rd party ppl who could drive it and was insured for.

Before i got my euro, i did some phone calls and quotes and told them i drove my parents car without issues for years and was offered rating 1.

I couldnt have the car registered under my parents name. The car is leased under my business name therfore the car must be registered under the owner of the business otherwise it negates any tax rideoff i gain from leasing the vehicle.

Mate the reason it is so high is beacuse of the Honda body kit. This makes the policy expensive. Because it is not factory fit. I will be switching to western QBE this week as they policy is only $820.

Changed the insurance now insured with RACV less than a grand with all the mods including the exhaust I will be fitting in a week or two..funny thing though the insurance costs a whole heap less but is still underwritten by the company I work for ..go figure.

That's strange because my mate is a team leader at RACV and could not insure me for less than $1800!!!

Best bet is to go to AAMI...they will give you a rating 1 if you have been driving for 5 years without an at fault claim. My wife just turned 23 and they gave her a rating 1 and she has never had insurance in her name and they did not increase my premium to have her noted on the policy, only thing is the age excess (an additional $350) is payable if she is driving. Also no extra for cosmetic modifications and up to three performance mods!!!

(For the record, suspension is a performance mod, wider wheels are performance mods, but wheels up to two inches larger in diameter and the same width are cosmetic - go figure!)

All the insurance companies can be difficult when they want to be. AAMI probably has the worst reputation in terms of resisting or being difficult with claims. I am with AAMI but have never made a claim. I agree they are good with modifications. I will stick with them at the moment as they seem to offer the best price.

Yep, I live in the inner-western part of Sydney and NRMA charge me 1700 bucks (25 y.o driver, 65% n.c.b for life).

Also, in reference to another post, your n.c.b should build up if you're a named driver on another (eg. your parent's) policy. I was pretty much on my mum's policy as a second driver for 5+ years. You should mention it specifically when you take out your premiums.

whats the f*&k you guys have got it cheap!!!!!!

i am 25, drive a 94 accord vti, had no at fault accidents, have 60% no claim bonus as as far as the insurance company is concerened the car is stock as a rock and i still pay nearly $800 a year for a car that has an agreed value of $7200.00

that sheet really pisses me off.

I think i should go to just cars or something and get proper car insurance.

my mates own civics 94 and 95, they're same age as me, pay like 2200 or so for insurance.. hehe

it's just the type of vehicle as well, keep that in mind.

lots of young people drive civics, especially older ones, more accidents - so they're gonna charge you more

They dictate what panels/spares the repairers use so you could end up with Taiwanese copies or Second Hand panels. Not saying this is the case for the Honda but it does say that on the small print of their policies or did last time I looked at them.
