Put aside about 6-8 grand including the cut - possibly more.

The EDs use a cable clutch for a start so the 18's gearbox will be an issue. 600-700 alone for the custom engine mounts - don't forget EDs don't have any of the Fi equipment so all that will have to come across.

Sorry Z3lda, I think you are way out with your "i reckon it would be easi 7.98sec

1/4 in low 14s, possibly 13s based on what I know people in the US have done. An EE (euro ED) with an ITR B18 went down to the low 13s in street trim. Cost was equivilent to 12K in Au$s with him doing all the work himself.

Setanta: 12k aus thats a bit much dont ya think. im pretty sure it aint that much.

4thgenecivic: You are going to have a few problems with the b18, the moter is going to be alot bigger then the original, ur going to need to get some mounts that sit high as the ground clearance is not alot to work with.

also, ur prob gonna have to get rid of air con and power steering, u could prob leave the power steering in, but needs work

The clutch is gonna be a prob, but i know theres a way to work around it. ask a few peeps on here, they should know.

Setanta, i was kiddin about the 7.98sec 1/4mile. He asked a legitimate question, i gave him what he wanted

there's plenty of threads going around about b18c in a ED hatch. if he only he search before hand. all his queries would of been answer

Price a front cut of a B18C from a VTiR, then ask me the question again. Remember - you have to convert the hydro to cable or get an adaptor kit - from the US along with your 600-800 bucks worth of Hasport/Place engine mounts.

I'm assuming that you aren't doing the work yourself and that you want the car to be engineered - you will need to do brakes for a start not to mention suspension.

BTW - the mounts put the engine lower in the engine bay as the 18 is a lot taller. That's why EF9s have the raised hood. The Hasport mounts are designed to retain the ED8 bonnet.

Price all the components, throw in labour. Ouch.

BTW- you can keep the AC and PS - it has been done with a lot of reworking of the mounts.

The B18 shares the general dimensions of the B16 except for a slightly taller block. EF9s have AC/PS and a number of the USDM conversions I know of have them too.

I am in the process of doing exactly what you are talking about. I have put aside approx 15k for everything, engine installation, parts etc, new suspension brakes etc. I have an ED sedan. I am hoping for mid to low 13's to begin with. People keep telling me that i am nuts, but i just love the 4th gen shape. :D
