hi all, i got a honda jazz vti and the clock is ticking over 10,000km just few days ago
i live in north shore of sydney
wondering which Honda dealer got the better technician around here, there are quite a few, ex. hornsby, artarmon, eastwood, Larke Hoskins, homebush...
Anyone got any experience from their service?
and how much would i be looking to spend? this seems to be a big one.
thanks

dont they do more than just change the oil? eg tune the motor, brake check etc

when i pick mine up (03 jazz) they go over all the details with me, readings and remain brakes, wash it, vac it and its normally in the $100+ <$200 mark every service

Astoria Honda bentleigh east melb - thumbs up

how ever i will be doing the oil changes/brakes etc when its out of the extended 5yr warrenty (again astoria) and only getting it (engine) tuned once a yr

this is the only car i have had paid for services due to warrenty

Scotts Honda @ Artarmon, Sydney quoted me $750 for 40,000km service. I was shocked by this price (but I guess is normal for a Honda Car).

So I took to my trusted local mechanic and serviced my car to all Honda parts & specifications in the log book, and it costs me $350.
(In fact, I buy all the parts from Honda spare parts and let my mechanic service, usually he charge me $15 per service - which is most of the time change all and inspect/adjust. So most minor service costs me $60 in total - $45 parts, $15 labour)

My car just recently serviced 70,000 service, so no problems!

Must remember the log book asks you to change spark plugs every 40K km, but these are Platinum sparkplugs that have a life span of 100K km! And each spark plug costs $40!!!!!!! I cant believe this!

WTH? 40000km for $750 for the little Jazz? that;s really off....
I got quoted for my MDX's 40,000km for just $440 (own oil and oil filter)..... its a major...

I too have found the Jazz to be rather expensive to service through Honda dealers here in Sydney. The prices are scary to say the least.

I can't remember exactly how much my last service cost, but my car had 10,000km and I get it serviced every 6 months (I don't do any more than 5,000km during that 6 month period) and it was around the $300 mark!!! And for what? Essentially just an oil and filter change (they did use full synthetic - WOW!) and the usual crap checks (because I can't tell if fluid bottles are full or if my lights are working).

Needless to say, I won't be returning to Honda for further servicing....

Oh and the clincher for the decision? Whilst my car was out at Ruf we had to reset some of the codes after disconnecting the airbag sensors up front. We plugged in the OBD to reset it and found an old fault code for the ABS. This would have come up during the installation of the suspension which was BEFORE my last service. Nice to know that even after charging $300, they didn't even plug in to the OBD and see what is happening with the car!

I just had the family car (Jazz VTi CVT-7) in for its 20,000kms service at New World Honda (Berwick Victoria) and it cost $192 for labour, $17 for oil filter and $37 for the FEO.

This included having a loan car (CRV). I haven't checked their handywork but they are ok from previous experience. The car even came back nice clean, tyres shinny too and interior vacumed.

Perhaps, maybe smoother and more responsive since it's new oil??

i dont notice any difference..then again im not tuned into my jazz like i am with myself...i push my jazz every little which way..

but i do vouch for services done at dealerships...my family has been getting theirs done since our first car back in the late 80s...no problems with any cars whatsoever...besides getting old and wanting to update to a new one

Honda = rip-off

You'll pay probably close to double what you would pay at your local mechanic.

My local mechanic has been looking after my family's cars for years (including a CRV that racked up almost 200,000kms in 3 years) and he does a top-notch job at decent prices. Plus he doesn't mind modded cars which is handy for when it comes to defects!

Honest!!!!!, very fast, they are happy to let you watch them work on your car (nothing to hide unlike dealer closets), very reasonable prices, only service Hondas (specialists), fully qualified / highly skilled and trained (no 1st year apprentices working on your car charging full rates), no unnecessary work done. Basicly they don't rip you off.

GUYS!! never go to honda dealer for service :@!!!!! especially the ones in homebush area!!...

today i took my car for 1000k service... well i got this noise problem with my car since the first day i got it... the noise comes from air vent and it sounds like there's water running inside the air vent whenever the engine is on.. so today i ask the honda mechanic to check it out and told him that isuspect it comes from coolant.. and when i got home after the service.. i open the bonnet and look.... FXXK, there was 'water mark' around the engine bay everwhere.. and it's not water!! it has to be coolant coz it's blue and coolant level in my reservoir tank was at 'MIN'!.... :@@@@@@

i might be wrong.. but my guess is that the noise was caused by bubbles and air in coolant.. and the stupid mechanic might be trying to release the air by having the radiator cap off and got the coolant spilling out of the radiator and didn't fill it back in... oh well the noise SEEMS to be gone now though...
i suggest.. as long as u dont void the waranty.. service ur car in somewhere u can trust.. welll rockdale collins honda is good from my previous experience..

oh one question for u guys now.. my stupid brother added some water into the reservoir tank when i wasn't around... fxxk him.. and is it ok?? just a little water not much?? u guys think i should clean and replace all the coolant??

adding water to the radiator will do bugger all.

you will do a lot worse if u add a coolant not compatible with whats already there.

if u only have to add a cup or 2 of water it wont hurt. Now if u replace half the coolant with water, it may cause some corrosion over time.

also remember that a lot of coolants turn to acid if not changed at regular intervals.

It depends on the type of driving you do. If you tend to do a lot of short trips then 5,000kms, but if your trips are longer (ie 20km+) then service it at 10,000kms. And you should service it more often if you drive in a lot of stop start traffic.
