slack accelerator pedal??

my accelerator pedal on my 92 si auto :roll: feels a bit slack.

how do i tighten it and what are the bad things that can happen if i over tighten it ??

If you over tighten it I believe you will increase the idle RPM. Does the idle RMP rite now seem ok?(Around 750-850 RPM or so... ) The only reason why u would tighten it is due to low idle I think? People correct me on this?

in crv's the pedal is pretty stiff IMO, if i ever bought one id loosen it.. but this isnt a crv hehe :P

hmmm if i read the the rev meter right then it is just above 500, maybe 600. i take the line in between 0 and 1000 is 500 although it is not in the middle!!

Well then the Idle seems to be a bit low and would probably need some tigtening as u said.....

mm im not too good on technical side of things, but the way to tighten it is to open up the bonnet, next the the intake manifold thingy, u'll the throttle cable, (that thing u move to rev ur engine! broom brooom!), and tighten/loosen the bolts as required ! i've read somewhere on a us forum that the cable shud have about 3/4inch leeway vertically both ways, but its up to you how much u wanna tighten it....

luznit, i heard about doing it that way but then i have also heard against it !?!?!?! i have heard that it should be change using the ecu ??!!

i will ask at my local garage i think!!

change using ECU?? mmm not too sure mate, its a moving mechanical thing (the accelerator pedal!)

i got the ecu rubbish from http://www.d-series.org/

but i check in a crx manual and i need to fiddle with the adjustment bolt.

but that will help my idle but what about a slack feeling accelerator pedal/cable ??

Try resetting ECU....pull battery terminals out and leave for about 10 mins....put terminals back in, start car and let it idle for a while.....

Just a suggestion, not sure it will do any good....

Either the fast/cold valve (also ICV: Idle control valve) or the TPS (throttle position sensor) but my money is on the valve or a leaking vacume hose.
