go the vtir..otherwise, u'll do wat i do and sell it for a loss and buy a vtir :o

its just a totally different car to drive..much smoother, faster, and has more luxuries..like sunroof, carbon fibre interior, leather steering wheel..and bigger wheels/5 stud..

otherwise u'll regret ;)

what car did you end up getting?

Si prelude would be 'better' to turbo than the vtec engines if you would ever consider that. Can someone back me up on this, or was i told fibs?

Si isnt better to upgrade with turbo, maybe coz its cheaper to buy and chuck a turbo in :) ... generally H22A engine is a harder to boost, so people keep tellin me.

Si if you wanna use for daily driving and nuthing more.

Agreed, get a VTiR, $18,000 is way to much for a Si anyway.

Why was this topic dug up?

why would u get a prelude when u can get a DC2R, most likely with less KMs then the preludes for the same price? just wait till you save up a few more thousand and get a DC2R!! it will own the prelude everyway and you wont regret your decision!!! they are going for the low 20s thesedays with low KM examples too!

In terms of performance and cornering ability yes. But the Prelude is much easier to live with day to day especially if you do a lot of kays. Its MUCH quieter, softer ride, creature comforts like climate control air con, cruise control, sun roof. Its a great package if you're not after a hard core sports coupe.

A manual VTiR isn't that far behind in the performance stakes anyway and when the 5th gen VTiR was released it was touted as probably the best handling FWD chassis out there.

Horses for courses.

i suggest buy the best model out there so when you see a vtir you wont wonder in your head "what would it feel like to own one'. In my oppinion try to get a vtir or Atts even if it means borrowing a little from somewhere. You dont want to be buying a Si then changing your mind down the track as you would be stuck with it. plus Vtec is so much more fun anyways.

hey to all.. i just joined now, and i was wondering, if having a non-vtec 5th gen.. is that just like a ..waste to do up? //.. .

..because im currently driving one, but have the want for a vti-R,

so should i just be looking @ getting rid of the si and upgrade to a vti-R after some time.. or si's are still alright to do up abit?

// .. lol im noob as you can all tell hahaha

so i shouldn't really be looking to do anything big for the time being?

pretty much a waste, the amount you spend on an Si (prob be same power as VTIR) is prob the amount you can save up to get a VTIR :)

VTI-R is the one to go for. and look around for the full optioned, like leather seat and kits, they are selling around that price range as well.

. . just thinking..

would a si with a Vti-R engine go harder than a Standard Vti-R?

Probably, because the Si doesn't have the additional weight of the sunroof and climate control system. But, the Si doesn't have the bigger VTiR brake package so you'd have to change those too.

i was gonna mention the bigger brakes and better suspension on the VTiR.. its a better package in the VTiR altogether.

it would cost you the same amount to turbo both anyways

DID THEY MAKE PRELUDE TYPE R :honda:

no.. they did make a type s though..

another alternative if your not after the performance is to buy a Si model from a member here or prelude australia who is keen to seel and get a vtir. You will definitely find it a cheaper alternative than a $18k dealer Si.

type S is not match, that is something Honda AUS try to rip someone off!

the drivetrain package and susp are similar to the si.

unless you know the car, or friend who knows the car, get one from dealer with warranty. they arent cheap to fix.
