Hi guys, i have a 91 ED sedan, and i was wondering whether a 2L engine swap would be good, with maybe a possability of a turbo in future. If so, what would be a good 2L engine for that?? If not, then which engine am i better to stick to??

its a headache to make anything fit in there. there is not much 2L on offer unless u have the money for k20a. you could try b18c or something but its a struggle to get it fitting in the engine bay (bonnet wont wanna close)

depending what engine u have now u could just rebuild it with forgies and boost that

Thanx for the sujestion :)

Well my enigine is the stock 1.5L, and its traveled 300,000km, so im thinking i need a new one anyway, my local mechanic said he could put a 2L in for $3800, but im not sure which engine exactly it is, and if im gonna have any trouble with it if i get a turbo later on, so i wanted to do some research and find out what is a good one to get put in, like which types should i stay clear of...

i think he'd be refering to one of the old prelude engines. they wouldnt have much aftermarket support for turbo. other more recent 2L options are the b20b or the k20a but both will set u back alot more than $3800

you could look at the b16a or b18c vtec engines as they both have heaps of aftermarket parts. or you could even look at something like a d16a8 which are great engines to boost, my mechanic had a 274wkw boosted ED CRX. he has also built a few other boosted d16a crx's that range from high 11's to low 13's

h22a's from the prelude vtir's are another option (2.2L vtec)

Get the SOHC VTEC 1600 in there. Least hassle and 130bhp on tap. Turbo that - you'll have enginebay room for the turbo without trying to squeeze it in and a decent car all round
