Who will win the 2005 French GP?
Formula One and astrology are not naturally linked but even the most fervent disbeliever will cast a glance from time to time at the Horoscope section of their favourite magazine or newspaper, or listen when the forecast comes up on the radio.
Astrology is one of the most-read items in the world, which is perhaps not surprising in a world which seems to be more and more difficult and high-pressure. Perhaps, we think, looking at the planets will help us understand more about life. Perhaps not. There are some sportsmen and women who consult astrologers (although there are not many who actually admit to it, in case they are laughed at).
We thought that to save drivers time and effort we would do the job for them and went to see Jean-Yves Espier, an astrologer and behavioral specialist. Espier is not a race fan and does not know much about the sport so his views were based solely on what he found in the astral charts of the drivers when they were born. He studied the position of the planets in order to discover what astrologers believe will be there natural talents and abilities.
In order to find out how they might do at the French Grand Prix, Espier also looked ahead at where the planets will be during the Magny-Cours weekend. We have used that information to establish what the stars should dictate, allowing for the machinery that the drivers have at their disposal. This takes into account their endurance, energy, and down right luck during the period leading up to the Grand Prix de France.
While preparing this article we noticed that there are no Grand Prix drivers who are Pisceans, Scorpions or Sagittarians but there are an unusually high number who were born Capricorn, Ariens and Leos.
The bad news for Capricorns and Ariens is that with Jupiter and Saturn in the same axis at the moment they are going to be at an astral disadvantage compared to Air signs such as Gemini (Rubens Barrichello) and Aquarius (Christian Klien and Takuma Sato). The influence of these two planets lasts until September, so it might be worth putting your money on someone else!

Quite honestly, even though we can determine the talent and even luck that each driver possesses during a certain time frame, there are too many unknown parameters this year to accurately determine who is going to win the Grand Prix de France.
However, after careful study of the drivers astral themes, it looks like Fernando Alonso is going to bring in yet another victory for Renault F1 team.
