As the title says im after any sort of information in how i can personnelly inhance the response of my D13a carb engine. I know its not the greatest engine around, so no smart comments. i love the civic look and for a poor uni student, i cant have looks and performance(in my case anyways:) )

Specs:

1.3L 16Value
Singe Carb
Optimax fuel always.
STOCK CAR!!

to increase response....lighten your flywheel ....and strip some weight out of the car.
There are littel mods u can do to teh carby - wait for someoen who has the knowledge:)

if u have a breeze, the best thing u can do is, LEAVE IT. the car came out of the box only to perform fuel economy runs, not 13sec passes.

oh...btw, u dont need optimax. save ur money and just use normal petrol.

get a tachometer so u know where 7 grand is, shift there. lol. mate has a brezze, they aint too bad, but like z3lda said, use normal fuel n save some money.

the Breeze is only a single carb motor, so its already 2nd rate to the d15 carbies which are dual... however, chargin the actual carbi can increase performance. Ive heard of cases where motorbike carbies reaplced the Breeze ones etc.

There is a write up in the Articles/Reviews section from memory, check there.

Hey dude,

Did you re-paint your car yet? :p

I just put a K&N in my Breeze and it feels "more responsive" to me. The car seems to rev out longer, which is a great thing in a 1.3L engine.

Also, my friend has a weber in his Civic... That thing is nice :D I think he pulls low 17's with nothing but the weber and exhaust, and gets 16km per litre.

best thing imo would be to do the carbies. you know where you can get some cheap ;) we should have a Brisbane Breeze get together. Talk about our high performance machines.

or just take everything possible out of the car lol :D

a carb upgrade has been mentioned... i suggest it would be wise to use some performance carbs... the best thing about using them is the fact that you can make anything which has a downdraft or sidedraft setup fit.

my suggestion would be to buy a pair of dellortos or webers
these carbies are a twin barrel carb so you would need 2 for best results, also can pick them up second hand for around 200- 300 bucks
the size of the ones you want are 40mm, nothing bigger

as for the manifold any exhaust place can make you a manifold to suit these carbs from mild steel or stainless if you wanna spend some cash
once you have them fitted. its as simple as adapting your fuel lines to meet the new carbs as one will have a T peice on the top the fuel flows through to the next carb where it has a L fuel inlet. then you are faced with the throttle control. which is either modifying the standard linkages to have a long arm which will open both carbs (normally done) and best .

or having a cable connected to an arm which opens both at the same time.
i know it sounds weird, i have an old alfa which has twin webers and its easy. also made a freind of mines car which has single carb to twin carb.
all up i rekkon it would cost you about 500- 600

Why?

The car is quick for what it is (74 Civic with a newer motor in it). I don't doubt its speed... It's easily a low to mid 17 second car. When I say "think," I mean that I don't know what other mods he has, if he has any. I just know of the weber and exhaust.

yeah.. get dual carb webbers or the keihin?? u should feel a difference in power, also.. get rid of all excess weight eg. instead of 2 x 12' subs just get a 15.. lolz..get extractors, dont need anything fancy or big. highflow cat if u can afford it and maybe a 2.5' tip or if u want sound.. get a 4 inch cannon ( like me!) also.. get a dual carb k&n filter.. ull havta make a custom box for it though, it should be open all around the filter. dont worry too much about cold air intake coz carbs work betta with less restriction like long twisted pipes..upgrade ur sparkies, keep ur engine tuned and serviced.
should be a ok.. btw.. i also work on a real right budget so all these things should be pretty cheap

response on a 1.3 = lower weight = more power.

lightweight rims, lightweight lugnuts, lightweight flywheel, lightweight everything!!! even lightweight driver, lose some pounds bro.

i have the D15B4 in the gl. twin carbs, im thinking about a d15b sohc vtec transplant and running it off twin webbers or something. could look into that with me. theres a guy on D-series.org from america running carby vtec on his d16. aparently you have to get your current dizzy's internals and put them in the d15b dizzy's housing and wire up a rpm actuated switch for the vtec to kick in. sounds interesting to me but i dunno if i can be bothered lol.

im driving the D15b4 hatchie.. K&N drop in filter, had my extractors changed, the whole exhaust pipe from extractor to the 2.25in muffler all custom made, advance timing of my ignition(done by mechanic), 15inch rims with 195/45.. i was wondering, where can i get these webber carbs from in perth?? and any workshop that specialised in fitting them on?? just had king springs fitted on too. :) anyone else from WA who have fitted these webber carbs?? cos if im not wrong, d15b4 is already using dual KV carbs?? thanks for the help guys...
