View Full Version : Any New Accord V6 owners?

My dad is about this -><- close to purchasing a brand new Accord V6.

Anyone wish to share any advice, I haven't driven one, but look good on paper. Is the Vtec aggressive or gradual, not sure he'll like it coming on aggressive (65 years old haha). Normally I like to investigate further, but this time I can't even be there when he signs the contract.

Also, he says the colour he wants doesn't come with the interior trim he wants and honda won't move, seems unreasonable considering the car isn't built yet, why is that?

Thats the way it is. They arent going to get an entire factory to change its colour schemes for one customer. Deal with it.

there's a forum user who's got a Accord V6.

Don't know about the build quality as they are Thailand built. But suspect Honda Japan will do good QC over there.

Deal with it.

What kind of answer is that....

Don't own one but driven one.

You FEEL the 170odd kw of power!!! Nice drive, no sudden VTEC convulsions.

Quality on outside is good, inside - well doesn't compare with the Euro for styling, but no lack of quality. Does feel as nice as the Euro though.

Overall great value for money, too bad it looks a bit awkward from the outside.

A conclusive one. There is nothing I, You, or anyone @ Ozhonda can do to make them make an exception for you. So where does that leave you? With an interior in a colour you dont like, or a colour with an interior you dont like.

How do I suggest you correct this connundrum??

Deal with it.

To Everyone, Keep It Nice And Happy Okie :D :D :D:wave:

The Accord V6 is faster than the Euro on the straight line if I remember from memory in a magazine I read.. Then again, the times recorded were crappy, I believe it can go faster...

I was lucky to have a go at one too and the only difference I see is that there is more room and yeap, can't feel the rush of VTEC coming in because it's a SOHC....

yeh its definitely quicker in a straight line than the Euro

Its won a number of awards, quality wise it seems good and personally i think it looks better than the euro. The euro will handle better, but your old man shouldnt be too worried about that (it will still handle well, just that the euro is more "sporty")

Fair cop mate, I never mentioned I was going to change world order was I, simply feel its unreasonable given that probably both cars roll down the production line at the same time.

But, the Accord seems OK then, I prefered the Euro myself and I feel the Euro would hold resale a touch better (and I prefer the interior), but it ain't my car so I'll deal with it ;) ...

Thanks for the feedback.

Your dad won't regret a V6 Accord. Is he getting the Standard or Luxury?

The power delivery of that silky 3.0 VTEC 177kw V6 is smooth, silent and powerful - torquey without being abrupt - and even has a nice growl at the top end. Its also pretty fast and has awesome acceleration. It eats any Euro for breakfast in the power stakes. Build quality is also of the typical Honda high standard (it doesn't matter that it was made in Thailand coz you wouldn't know the difference).

We have a Accord V6 Luxury and don't regret it one bit. Here's a pic of our Accord.

That looks great mate, I've seen a goldie coloured one with nice wheels but has been lowered heavily.

this one - http://www.caraudioaustralia.com/forums/showthread.php?t=52239

He's only looking at the standard V6, he doesn't like leather, he'll probably get those fitted sheep skin covers though, hehe, old foagie style...

Yep, but he's always had a 6, and its always been a holden, I've succeeded in telling him to try something different, I want him to try the Euro aswell so yeah, i think he'll want the 6 - old habbits I guess..

he'll want the V6 because its a 'lazier' drive if i can put it that way because of the extra power and torque

By the way, it may cost a fair chunk more, but i've heard of a few people who have had their brand new car resprayed to another colour by the car manufacturer (one was an Audi, the other one was a Toyota). Perhaps he can get them to respray the car which has the interior he wants, to the colour he wants??

well i own a 99 v6 accord and apart from a few minor issues early in the piece and apart from a tricky gearbox,i couldnt be happier.the thing flies and as for vtec i will say it aint violent but i reckon it gets a noticable growl and the power difference is noticable.the best thing about my car is passing lil turbo lasers and non turbo imprezzas and bommodores off the lites....the look on there faces is priceless.as for build quality iam noticing a few issues with rattles and such but the roads where i live have alot to do with that.but all in all a great car.

How does the big accord not compare with the Euro for interior style? They have the exact same interior pretty much!

The Accord is a great car. If I were buying a car in this range, I would not bother with a Commodore or Camry and get either the Accord or a Maxima

Honda did have a metallic purple euro before called indigo blue pearl. It came with an ivory interior. They didnt sell too many and hence its a bit rare. Now its no longer available as a colour choice.

The Maxima has no class, the side of the car is so dull and plain, lucky it has door handles or there'd be no shape to it, at least the Euro has a bit more definition to the same area.

The Accord interior does differ slightly from the Euro, most noticable is the steering wheel, the Euro wheel is much nicer, I'm not convinced the Accord two tone interior will last the test of time aswell as the Euro's black and metalic silver...

Congrats. Btw, there is no manual Accord V6, so there's no point in saying auto :p

I just noticed that Graphite colur is gone. Replaced it with nighthawk black pearl. I really don't know why they did that, cos I reckon the Graphite is the most popular colour on the Accord V6 besides silver. This is according to info on the web site.

Purchased from Southside Honda (Brissy obviously), they were prepared to play ball alot more than a few others. I bought my Civ from Von Bibra Honda at southport, and have been getting it serviced there since, but all our cars might be heading off to Southside now, although VB haven't done anything wrong, might check out service elsewhere..

Cool. We got our V6 Luxury from Southside Honda as well. They were quite good and their servicing so far has been impressive. You are quite right they were prepared to play ball alot more than the others, which is why we ended up buying from them. Westmore simply wasn't interested and were too up themselves, and Austral were slack and could not provide a test drive for us even though we gave them three chances to do so over three weeks.

we also purchased our family MDX in Von Bibra and had no problems with them what so ever. it was first MDX on the gold coast :D :D the dealer gave up free mats.... (maybe because we bought the full protection package  ) we also got a FREE PERSONALISED PLATE FROM THEM (by accident maybe :) :) ). coz they didn;t charge us the standard $350 as per plate

I dunno if you can do anything about it, but the metalic trim doesn't cover the woodgrain 100%, and doesn't sit flush across the glove box compared to the other side, but looks a million times better than the woodgrain.

Yep, haven't had a crack at it yet, dad's still running her in (he knows how i drive), but he says its not even comparable to the commodore (although he says its wider to the edge of the mirrors, almost killed one getting into the garage for the first time, haha)...

Interesting...the Standard interior/dash looks rather different to the Luxury interior/dash. The compartment behind the gearstick is completely different. Here's a pic of my Luxury's interior to compare.

I've seen some pimped Accords, however the Euro looks the racier one, but if they decided to fit the Accord V6 engine into the Euro (perhaps with quad cam VTEC) then I'm there with a fat cheque book....

Dad optioned his with the metalic trim, if you look closely around the gear selector the trim doesn't quite hide the woodgrain completely, however, I think it makes it look a touch more modern with the metalic trim. I don't know hoe much the new trim would cost to do after delivery, but it clips/sticks over the wood grain.

The compartment is different as mum wanted a tape player

If the metallic trim is out of alignment with the glovebox I'd be taking it back to Southside Honda to rectify. They will have no problems with this. We had several minor things with our Accord that I wanted fixed upon delivery and they were more than happy to address them as warranty issues. So I expect they would do the same for you, especially if they were the ones who fitted the metallic trim and didn't ensure it was aligned properly.

The Acura TL/TSX.. comes with a 3.2 litre v6 ... and in dash sat nav...

also, looking at the acura website customise section, they get the choice of interior seating color. so they can have a black car, with a black interior...

feeling ripped off? :p

That's the same case as the JDM Accord. Same car as us, but 7 kW more, sat nav option (+ heaps of other options we don't get), a few more colors and choice of interior/exterior combo. AND they get the wagon and AWD varient, AND the Euro-R.....grrr.
