Just wondering if anyone has done the TB mod (bypassing the coolant form the throttle body).

Is it worth it? its costs less than $5buks.

What benefit does this give?

Moved To Technical Section :)

The bypass is to stop the butterfly in the TB from freezing in cold weather.

It heats the throttle body and the air too, so the air is warmer entering the engine..

without the Bypass, it doesn't warm the air into the engine..

I've heard of this mod delivery more HP with no side effects but the HP gain would be minimal if the car is not heavily modified in one way or another..

Hmm, wouldn't warmer air have lower density, so the filling efficiency would drop?

that's what i'd think, the point is to get cooler air.... and it wouldn't make too much of a difference here in Australia... especially in summer...

i'd say changing the tb to a larger diameter would give you better results.

not necessarily, depends on the engine & combination.
I wouldnt be messing with TB size on a sub 1.8l motor.
In fact, I wouldnt be changing the diameter at the plate much at all.

Torque is your friend.

Opps I'm sorry if I made it out in the wrong way..

What I mean is that, the coolant in the TB is to warm the butterfly to stop it from freezing, bypassing it means that there is nothing to warm it and the intake air would be cooler....

I guess no one has tried it. I was reading about it somewhere.. its and easy cheap mod.

Ahhhhh I see. That makes sense!

i do it on all my modified engines...

cooler air is denser for all the n00bs who failed year 9 science
