COILOVERS have matching shock and sping rates mes thinks

yeah that's true...but that can also be matched on koni with aftermarket springs too.

ANY shocks will "clunk" if mated with non-captive springs ( IE, too low for teh stroke of the shock)
There will be minor clunking npises , as the SPRING moves around during hard corners and pivoting into driveways etc.

I know too as my setup is this way !

well , main thing is PRICE.

NEW koni shocks plus suited springs = $1200 ish .
NEW coilovers ( any JDM really) = $1200 +++

Coilovers are rated for the track...NOT the street ( especially our Australian roads....we are not in JAPAN) Its silly to use coilovers for every day commuting. Just get soem lowered springs if you want to be "dumped"

Get koni yellow / reds and a nice set of eibach springs. You will be happy :)

coilovers height depends on the thread length of the shock body... konis are limited in the number of positions. But as ben has said.. coilovers are for track imo.

ok.
so basically if u only gonna go tracking ...maybe a few times...
and the rest is just for daily driving.
it's recommended to have KONNIZ...

if koni shocks were to be used, whats a good coilver sleeve brand that can be source in asutralia should be used? or any will be fine aslong as u've got the koni's there.

pproblem with eibach springs and koni's is that its not hieght adjustable. so if u get dicked u'll have to change em over, which is the downside

Konis + eibachs is not as low as some people would like ( for example MY own EG hatch with this setup - not really low at all :( ) but ride comfort is fine and adjsutable with damper etc. I reccommend this setup to anyone here .

Stay away from Coilovers unless you do track your car often , can afford to rebuild them / replace them or just are a JDM whore with no kidneys.
If you want your car low - jsut get low springs. ALOT cheaper and same effect.

BTW the only coilover sleeves ive seen here are those "ground zero" ones from EBAY. You can machine new lower grooves in koni shocks, for the perch to sit lower too !

whats coilover sleeves are avaliable to purchase in australia to go with koni's?

the best sleeves are ground control, but you have to import. Otherwise i'm not sure if Omni or Skunk2 are available anywhere.

Koni yellows are a very flexible shock, and match well to spring rates from stock to coilover rates. Only go with coilovers if you need height adjustability, otherwise the Koni's are fantastic

So the Koni Yellows will stop coilover sleeves from droping very low?

Can they be moded to?

in my experience konis can start to annoy on bumpy roads...especially tram/train tracks.... but if ur after performance handling...they rock
