Hey all, I got a problem with my front plates. I got slimline plates on my new Euro and the front one looks ugly. The plate holder is for a std size plate and they had to put two ADDTIONAL plate holders onto it. So my plates come out a good inch beyond the bumper and are too tall for the plate.... looks hideous!
So, a few questions; Anybody encountered this? Did you fix it, how? The service guys have suggested cutting the holder, but there's got to be a better option. Anybody got an aftermarket plate holder?

got the same problem too
with the slim line ones do u mean the premium plates or the Euro plates?
Premium - white with black writing and slimmer and longer than the yellow ones
Euro - longest plates of them all with symbols on the left side i think...
i've seen other euro's around with premium plates bolted straight into the bumper, my guess is that they drilled holes into the bumper.
When i took the plates off our euro the screws on the premium plate and the premium plate holder where actually screwed into the bigger plate holder. Unbolted the big plate holder so that i could screw the premium plates straight onto the bumper but couldnt do that since there werent any matching holes...
so either cust the plate holder or drills holes...

I think I got the Premium plates (VIC is down the left side, but there's no symbol), I haven't tried unbolting anything yet, thought better to ask for help first. Just don't wanna F-up the car, esp the front

u must have bent plate then right??.
Cause bar is not straight

Cause bar is not straight
yeah, Albii's plate is curved to fit onto the front bumper
many ppl cut the bottome edge of the black plastic holder off.
I made a custom plate holder out of metal sheet.
Reason?
(1) didnt want to see any of the balck plastic(not even the top portion)
(2) didnt want to drill into bumper
(3) allow to reposition the plate to slightly higher position rather than hanging too far down.
check "PNR888" from BRISBANE Cruise Pics

Yeah! Best to have a plate holder! You should be able to get one from a auto shop.... Auto One?

Honda's already quite happily f***'d up our bumpers by not installing the plate holders the way the designers designed them to be attached. However they seem to have realised this and got it right for the new Integras. They're correctly mounted via extension members screwed into the angled section of the frame that curves under the bumper, and are subsequently bolted into the pre-drilled 45deg mounting land formed into the underside rear of the front bumper. If you haven't guessed the way they've bastardised our bumpers by cutting holes in it to mount the bracket is a very contentious issue with me.
Back on topic I removed the stock holder and cut the top and bottom of the sucker so they're flush with the slimline plate.

Here are a couple of photos of the custom-made number plate holder my bro made me.
For height comparasion, go to Brisbane Euro cruise photo. page 1.(click on my signiture below) need to go to page 1 though. There is a front view of 6 Euros. Blue one is with standard plate holder. Matell's and Baboo's (2 graphite ones on either sides) have theirs trimmed. Chris F's american size "Eurio" fit on Japanese standard plate holder perfectly, so he only need to remove the outer bracket off.

What about you guys with 3 letter plates that are narrower than the factory mounting holes?
It would look gay with metal brackets exposed and I don't want to drill new holes into the car...

My best guess would be to get a plate holder (either std or slimline) and look to bolt that to the brackets, it'll hide the brackets and at least look clean (sorta)
