86 Prelude auto gear box problems

hey guys

i have an 86 honda prelude auto, have had it for around a year now for my run around car, was told by a transmission guy that there is a stuck valve in the box that is stop the car from changing gears, does any one know much about these gearbox's, the trans guy quoted me 2 G to take the box out and fix it and out back in, could afford that so myself and my old man are going to pull the box out ourself, is it worth trying to fix it, or should i take it to a specialist? and is it easy to change an auto to a manual???

take it to a specialist
with out any Honda auto trans expirence I dont recomend you touch it.
also you may not know what to look for, you could end up removing it and refitting it 4 to 6 times before you got it right, there is not way to test a tranny until you have put it back in the car.
