What is the B16A redline and cutout?
My friend got a conversion done into his EG and I was under the impression redline is somewhere around 8000rpm and cut out at about 8400 rpm but his cuts out at 7500rpm?
The engine to my knowledge is from a VTi-R Civic (it says B16A on the block).

maybe it was from an automatic car... i believe the ecu from the auto b16a engines cut out much earlier

B16A AUTO ECU's are kinda rare and hard to find..

sounds like he using a P28 ECU (SOHC VTEC).

when does the VTEC switch over (ie. when does it get noisy) ?

if at ~5000RPM, is P28.. VTEC on Aussie B16A's is 5500, JDM is more like 5800.

mine cuts out after 8,200rpm somewhere. (Haven't found it yet and not really planning to.)

Ok found out it cuts at about 8,500rpm :D

Would a SOHC ECU run a B16A DOHC VTEC???
Is there any way to find out what ECU is in it for sure??

As I did think 7500 cutout for that engine was very low

Please help!

Why does VTEC kick in so early at 4800 rpm?
Funny thing is VTEC seems to kick in between 5000rpm and 5500 on different occassions?

And why such a low cut out???

AUDM B16A P30, Redline: 8115rpm, Vtec: 5375
JDM B16A P30, Redline: 8290rpm, vtec: 5375
USDM DOHC Vtec P28, Redline: 7410rpm, vtec, 4810

Also note, vtec is load based, under low loads, vtec engagement is higher, approx 5800rpm for P30 and 5500 for P28

How do you know from what market the engine is from??
I am assuming it's AUDM??
But then again I was told that AUDM VTEC engines have a number at the end (eg. B16A2) where as the block on this is just B16A
Also there is no "kick" from VTEC, it just starts accelerating faster, much like MIVEC actually
