View Full Version : Car Alarm System
Just received my car alarm system with remote start and lot of other featuers from Ebay.
my first question that it came with only one remote to operate. how relible are these remotes? should i buy another spare remote from seller? do these alarm systems come with only one remote these days or its a mistake?
any suggestions related with alarm installation, pls. i m going to install it tomorrow with auto window winder(excited already).

my mate has one, dont know if hes had any problems with it. i know he only got 1 remote also. maybe he bought it from the same guy.
personally i wouldnt buy anything that is, lets say... no name. even thou that alarm has a name its not a name that the industry knows. saying that, thats where you will have issues if something goes wrong unless the seller provides after sales backup.

Damn that's cheap. i got a complete system put in with window up, remote ignition etc. pretty much everything lol and it was $850 installed... remote is annoying, it has a good LCD screen and vibrates but it chews batterys bad. Worth it though :) i'm happy. Mine was made by Epsilon.

well the ebay link says
"LCD Remote Transmitter And Back-Up Remote as spare"
so u should have another 1
i contacted seller and dsicovered that he missed one backup remote with this alarm in package.
made a deal to pay him $25 extra to send me additional 2way FM remote instead of backup 1 way remote.
can someone pls tell me installer in melb for this system. i have rang JB Hifi, strathfield, and Autobarn. none of these install any alarm other than what they sell in their shop.

hm, no matter how good your alarm is, its not going to stop anyone from trying to break in.
But good point on installation, thats the key to a secure alarm system, not its brand name.

Any auto-electrician should be able to install the alarm for you.

dont trust any auto elect.. look for a quality installer.. like reputable car audio/security places.. for piece of mind.. even if u havta pay a lil more... cheaper aint always the option...
:)
Steve car alarm also saying same thing that they only install their own alarm systems. i even offered them to istall it without warranty. just keep it working at start, and after that it would be my responsibility. but still he is not ready to install this.
one guy from springvale (http://www.cybercentury.com.au/home.htm) gave me quote of $160 for alarm and $90 for windows auto lifter. total $250 for installation.
is this good price or should i look for cheaper than this?? its my first time to get this bloody thing installed and have no idea how much it will cost.

i wanna get an alarm for my car, but still use the buttons on my key..is this possible with after market alarms? or do i have to install a honda alarm add-on kit?
if my car has central locking system, do i still need some centeral locking motor to get this system installed ??

You should be able to get an aftermarket alarm system because they just use your current central locking system to wire up the alarm
Not sure about using the button on your honda key though, Id think that a new alarm system might be able to be programmed or "learn" the honda remote. But I'm not too sure.
my accord does not have keyless entry. basicaly this system is going in as first timer :)

MIRZ I am also looking for a qualified auto electrician in melbourne to install my alarm as soon as I get it as insurance wont' cover you if you get someone not qualified to do the job. Also everyones been saying that the auto start feature is illegal from what i've read, so i'm not sure if I should enable it at all -_-"
How did it go with cyber century? My friends average alarm system cost him around $130-150 to fit into his corolla so I might just need to enquire him about when I get his contact.
I also can't wait til I get keyless, LOL!
working on fine. doing this first time :)
found most of cabels and connected them temporarily, few more to go tommorow hopefuly it will be finished.
keyless entry working :D

MIRZ you do know that if your alarm isn't fitting in by a qualified auto electrician your insurance won't cover you? I've also heard the same with auto start alarms, but I think i'll still get that feature installed :)
today finaly able to finish auto window lifter in my car. its working and tested 100%.
sat will be the day to finish this alram installation :)
i want it installed by myself to learn about my car, and believe me in last 10 days learnt lot about it.
Project accomplished, everything has been installed and working. i m just so glad, learned a lot about my car in last 2-3 weeks.
One last problem, if someone pls help.
with Remote Start function, car starts up properly but then engine stops after 15 seconds. it tries 3 times as defined by alarm system.
problem is that it cannot keep engine running after starting it up.
i have done techometer learning 4-5 times with full warmup engine to make sure it will detect lowest RPMs.
can someone pls tell me where i m making mistake, thanks a bunch in advance.
