Hey guys, Im about to get a new set of rims from the missus for our 1 year and wanted some opinions pls. I have already chosen the rim, but need to know about tyres and the different sizes. I went to Donnelans in Box Hill today and got quoted on 17" rim and tyre package and the tyre was the GIII.....

Ideally I would like 215/40/17 but the tyre I got quoted on in the package only comes in the 215/45/17 range and Im not sure if there would be rubbing or not. My car is lowered and theres no gap between the top of the tyre and the car, eg so you cant see the top of the tread, but then around the edges, its about 1 to 1.5 inches gap....

I can post a pic if needed, but what Im wondering is with the 45 size, would that rub? Its a 5th gen prelude and lots of people say that it doesnt and that I should go for it as it will give me more rim protection....

Any comments would be appreciated pls guys....and any more info needed for the above equation, just ask....http://exclusive-auto.org/board/images/smilies/smile.gif

i've got a 5th gen prelude myself with 215/40/17 and it isnt lowered.......if i've got 2 ppl in the back seat and i got fast over a speed hump, then it will rub....otherwise its fine....with urs if u get 215/45/17 i dont think it will rub....might get close, but it shouldnt.......if it does just strech out ur rear guards.....it will most likely rub where the bumper is connected to the rest of the car

Thanks for the Indo :)

I find he has to go over speed bumps slow as it is already so he's used to going slow....For piece of mine he says he will probably go the 215/45 :D

you also need to consider the Offset of your new rims too.. If it is too far out from your OEM rims, (wheel will sit out a bit more than before), then regardless of the tyre profile/size... it will rub, esp your car is already lowered.

Sorry for lack of replies.....I got the wheels a week ago and they have been on the car since. No probs with offset etc etc as they were perfect sizes etc etc....I did my research :)

The present was FROM the missus for our anniversary. I like practical things so this is what she got me...:)

If you really want to get an estimate on costs then either call Donnellans yourself or PM me...as that is private information :)

Cheers
