if its a D series motor you an pretty much use any D series stuff.

hmmm being carb i cant really think of any D series stuff which would work with it, with all post 90's model D series being EFI.

don't waste your time or effort on that engine..

a B16a is a simple swap and will turn your civic into a monster!

if you want some more power you can use the concerto injection with a microtech LT8 computer, definitely a big increase. My suggestion is B16A also.

I wouldn't waste my time with a B16 unless you want to boost it. theres no real point for the increases in power. Never the less from your d15 to a b16 your car will feel like a bat outa hell. its like a 50kw increase, with the usual I/H/E work your looking at a 60ish kwt gain total from the d15. thats HUGE.

Not quite - the engine mounts are all wrong for a start and if you try welding in SiR/XSi ones you' be looking for trouble as the nose of these was redesigned - not to mention you need a SiR bonnet etc because the engine placement is high. Place and Hasport do custom mounts but they are about 600 bucks a set and you have to get them from the US.

ZC bolts straight in to give you a 30bhp increase, as do the later D series SOHC VTEC motors.

The D15 can be made to run well, it starts with 98ps and the carbs can be rejetted, go I/H/E and bump the compression. Jackson Racing made twin-40 mm Webber manifolds for the D15 and D16 - finding one nowadays could be interesting though.

The ZC route is prolly the best bang for buck - get a front cut so that you have the ECU/loom/ancilleries and cam-humped bonnet for clearance (yes, the CRX bonnet will bolt straight on :) ).

Ummmm... WTF??????

60bhp increase over a B15 is a huge increase. Time to lay off the crack I think  :P

Edit: I forgot to add that you can get a Mugen grind cam for the D15, I think a few other companies do them too :)

i think going from a sohc 1.6 carby to a B16a is a big difference in power, to do the conversion want be cheap, as setanta sed you will need mounts, then you'll need driveshafts and other lil things. you DONT have to get a new bonnet, the stock one will still clear the newer vtec engine. i have a usdm cf bonnet on mine.

if your restricted with budget then, get a d16a8 drop it in, no mounts required, drive that around for a while then turbo it when you have the money.

how much total would that be to do the D16A8 conversion?
huge difference after that? what about compare to the B16A? much cheaper?

If there isn't too much price difference b/w the d16a8 and the b16a, id say go for the b16.

you can pick up a engine and gearbox for about 1300 they are 120 horse power engines.

b16a's 160 horsepower engines cost about 1600 with gearbox, then mounts for 400us dollars, then driveshafts and shift linkeges need modifying.

dont forget labour coast, that is a big factor.

all depends on what you wnat out of it and how much you wanna spend.
