hi guys, ive encountered a problem on my car today, not only today but sometimes as well - the problem is it stalls by itself? (my car:eg hatch GL)
ok, now if use my car to drive somewhere & if i park it 2 buy somethin or rather for 10-20 minutes....(i think its worst on a hot day) then after, driven again for abit & when it comes to stopping slowly @ a traffic light or just sittn on a traffic light...my car stalls! i dunno wat it is but sometimes when im jus drivin' without much stoppn after i park it...its ok; it does not stall.
Today it happen 2 me twice (when i went 2 buy somethin'...stalls @ a stop/ then home i parked it for 10 mins? after drvn...traffic light stalled while i was changing gears from 3-2-clutch down then stalls :!: :? :(
could it be the clutch or somethin? pls help :|

Your Distributor - a common thing for civics is the internal mechanisims to fail in the distributor- apparently something to do with it being weak , and an "internal coil" .

In my own "experience" one of the three stages of the unit failed- the crank angle sensor or the coil etc. It happened to me - as the "coil" over heated after about 15- 25 mins of use - and simply stalled...

Just take it to a good mechanic ( i suggest Peter @ Hannys ! ) and tell them exactly what happens , what leads up to it so they can pin point the problem without it costing too much ;)

Hope that helped alittle.

Could you please explain more on this. I'm getting error code 6 (ECT Sensor). I've had similar starting probs (but not stalling). I've fixed the main relay and listen for the fuel pump to prime and relay to click. The engine light used to come on during a drive, but now it's more frequent staying on....and it's not just when the car is hot. Does this suggest I need a new sensor rather than bad wiring connections?

how are ur revs when u stall? are they quite stable and then just drop instantly or drop consistently?

yes, if you have the CEL, just replace the sensor - most DIY guys will have one lying around - i have several...

if it doesnt fix your problem, then you need to check the wiring... but replacing the ECT sensor (it is under the distributor) is very easy compared to wiring troubleshooting!!!
