I have a 1992 Honda Civic GL EG hatch. Does anyone know at what point they stop making power? Like what RPM?
Thnx.

use you butt dyno mate...!

the peak power DEPENDS on state of tune, engine condition and type of fuel plus a few other factors...

if yours IS in good condition, is well tuned and is running quality fuel - then 7000rpm should be no problem...

if it has done 250'000km, was serviced every 10'000km and gets filled up at "no-name" pertol then good luck getting to 6000rpm let alone making power to there...

BTW everyone here is where you can check out all the JDM specs:

http://www.honda.co.jp/HOT/ModelData/

and translate it:

http://au.altavista.com/babelfish

...it shows the D15B in the EF (ED) made 105ps at 6500rpm

i got the same motor...

standard they are 66KW @ 6300RPM ......

On dyno day I got 42KW @ the wheels. I had a front buckled rim, so that figure would be more like 47KW.

Mine rev's comfortably to about 6500, do it all the time. Any higher, and i think it would be a waste.

BTW, I have exhaust, 4-2-1 headers, CAI.

Thnx for that tinkerbell, I don't think i am going to go to get it dynoed until the new engine goes in. But until then I'm just seeing where would be the best spot to set the hift light at so I'm not over revving or under-revving.
My engine is in alright condition but not the best because it is about 12 years old lol. So I'll set it a bit lower like you said.

Hey Rowie, I can rev mine to 6500 fine aswell, but I probably shouldn't do that too often seeing as it's getting on ;)
Good to see more GL's in the forum :D

I used to rev my ED GL to 6500 but not much further as it fell off the curve at about 6200. Great motors - I replaced mine at 253,000 with a JDM one from an XT25... it was actually a nice bump in power :) The plan was to ZC it next but in retrospect I should have just tweaked the D15.

You just got me thinking then for a min, you said ED right?
This is a different topic, but I got told by an importer they are bringing in a ED half-cut and i have been wanting to know what this is out of or if they are just saying it wrong. ie. eg=ed

hahahahahaha - they lie :P

An ED is a non-JDM/non-European '88-'91 Civic or CRX.

'88-'91 has to be the most confusing generation of civics as their code varies:

EF = JDM spec
EE = European spec
ED = rest of the world spec (US, Australia etc)

If it was an EF spec cut it might be interesting, but my guess is they meant EG
