i think it might be the cable convertor to your screen, its needs to be nstc as well....not to sure though, cause if you play say a nstc movie on a pal tv screen it comes out black and white

yeah i no, but i've modded the ps2, so it should play any game, with color...

When playing games or DVD movis that are not in Pal format you will need a screen or TV to have NTSC. Regardless if your PS2 is chipped or not. The reason why it works fine on your TV at home is that your TV automatically changes the format for you...

I had the Alpine TV screen in my car which I had the PS2 connected too and when I was playing copies games I needed to switch the monitor from Pal to NTSC format. You need to check your settings on your screen. See if you can switch from Pal to Ntsc and vice verser......

Well you need to go into the menu screen and switch it from Pal to NTSC and vice versa.....

The reason why it has color when you load the PS2 is that your running a Pal PS2 and your screen is set on Pal. When playing copy games it then changes to NTSC format..... Basically you will need to change from Pal to NTSC each time you play games. Unless your playing a pal game it will be fine to leave the settings on Pal......

It would be your TV, i have a chipped ps2 and all games work fine on the tv in the lounge but thats coz that tv supports ntsc n pal. Different story with the tv in the "study" room, it's a pretty old tv so it doesnt support NTSC. Play any NTSC games and it comes out in black and white.

The reason why you get colour when the ps2 boots up is most probably bcoz the initial boot sequence is the console and not the actual disc. You can tests this out if u want just boot up the ps2 without any disc in it and it'll come up in colour. BTW when you said the boot screen i'm assuming its the bluey screen with them cubes n coloured dots flying around. So when you boot up the console a PAL signal is sent out, but when the DISC loads a NTSC signal is being sent out. Thats why you get the colour screen then the B&W one.

To fix it: As you said you television supports PAL & NTSC, you should be able to change between systems fairly easily. Look on the remote to see if theres a "System" button or look through the menu on your tv.

hope that helps

stop saying it 'could' be your TV...

IT IS YOUR TV... how old is it?... it doesnt support NTSC... either get PAL games or get a new TV to hook up the ps2 to
