View Full Version : Tire width in fronts?
Hey dudes
i know this has prolly been asked a million times but whats the biggest width you can go on eg civic before they start to scrub?
will an 8 inch fit at the rear? will 7 fit in the front? if i lower it will it scrub for sure?
thanks dudes
peace
16x7's are about as big as you will want to go from memory
they might scrub though i'm not sure.
it's a FWD so I'm not sure how smart putting bigger tyres on the back is.

17x7 should be okay... thats without lowering.... u will get a bit of guard rubbing if u lower...

On my lil EG civic hatch - I am running 15 x 7 inch wide wheels, with 205x50's on the front and 205 x 60's on the rear ( i believe) . . . and the car is lowered about 2 inches - its ok - but WILL rub alot on full lock .
Just dont use fat semi slicks liek i do lol...
I have 17s on mine with low pros..., i think my tyres are like 2 inches at least, will check later when i find a ruler :D
lowered about 2 inches ... only rubs the guard if I turn hard
but its only for looks, if you want performance, get 15s, gonna get me some 15s soon once i get over my rice period .
hmm nah mines for looks.. makin it a cruiser (dark tint, big wheels, loud music... and some hydraulics :D )
i would make it a performance car but whats the point.? without spending some big bucks the lil d16a can't get ne faster...
i would rather 17's tho... but scared it mite rub cz theres always kunts in my car...
thanks for the info dudes
cheers
I have 18s on my EK civic + its lowered

if its for looks, go for 18's. I got them on my EK4( i know your asking for a EG, but hey...!). They are 18x7.5 I get a fair bit of rub if you put it thru some corners hard. But other than that, shes a looker....its only dropped by 1.5" on standard shocks....just depends on how you want to set your car up. Like you said, its for looks....

18x7.5 is the max i would go for looks... but that are a couple of civic's with 19" wheels in melb (they would have a hell of a time on the road)...
hey thanks guys
well tomorow im gonna go get some 16"'s
i would go for 17's but doing a bit of research i found that
a) tire prices are higher (im not rich bitch)
b) im a taxi driver to all my mates so my car is always loaded so i don't want to hear a big scrape everytime i take a corner
c) i don't want uneven wear caused by excessive amount of negative camber wen i get the shit lowered. (i saw a 2000 mdl civic with 17's.. looks nice on the side... parked behind it the wheels were like this /_/-----\_\ :) )
well yeah im gettin em for a pretty good price neway
thanks for all your help
btw... do 16"s fill the guard up if say i dump it off its titties?
haha peace

EDITED BIT: It's also been lowered 1.5" and scrubs slightly on full lock every now and again :)
Hey
yeah i got 16"s and with stock springs they're hideously high but even wen i go over hard bumps you can hear te tires bounce off the guards :|
ah oh well... i'll get it lowered with super low springs... how much do they drop the car by?
peace
