Hello

I have a few questions about this swap; hopefully someone can help me with some or all.

1. Seeing as my Civic is a carbie and would need to be changed to efi what’s the best way to go about this,

Will a CRX efi tank fit my Civic?

If I use a Surge tank will I still need a high-pressure fuel pump?

Will I need to change my fuel lines and if so will crx lines work?

2. From what I’ve learnt I will need to shave some of my bonnet to fix the ZC under and I can use stock mounts?

3. Will I need to alter or change my drive axles?

That’s about all I can think to ask atm, I have pm'ed a user who had this swap done but I haven’t got a reply yet.

If you have a link I could make use of or know of other problems I may encounter please fill me in.

Cheers

Id really like to do most of it myself if possible to keep costs down. Ya i think I will be choppin the hood to fix her in.

The zc will be getting lots of lovin from some mugen cams if I can get my hands on some.

MOre help plz :D

lol i think the bonnet is a simple fix, mugen cams r pretty hard to find man :thumbdwn:

im pretty sure u need an efi tank and lines, u can use same mounts to i think.

u gettin a zc with hydro clutch?

I assume hydro clutch would be from a 92+ eg?

The thing im worried about is different spline for the gearbox etc yada

Would i need different mounts for a hydro tranny like in b-series engines?

yeah 92+ eg si has hydro,

my mate has a jdm zc in his 88 crx si, w zc hood and shit, im not sure if he has hydro clutch tho, i love my lil zc but im not 100% on the specs on it.

surely ui can get a crx si zc and fuel tank and ur set? i mean pretty similar chassis lol, would a crx si 'zc' hood fit?

well I pm'ed mojo, he confirmed that crx tank will fit and hopefully I can find a half cut somewhere to make it easier, going for a wreakers cruise tomorrow.

I'm not sure about the hood.... are SIR hoods the only different ones or are all EF's abit longer? I would think that an AUDM ZC bonnet would fit.

yeah i think a audm si hood would fit, while ur there try and get and ef crx rear disc setup and u ca prolly use the BMC from the zc half cut

with power comes brakes man ;)

True but i was thinking about a more aggressive break setup... but in saying that i dont know what would be a good option for track use and street?...

man coz u have a pretty light car.

id sugest get a ful si zc setup, so u have proper bmc and discs and calipers.

then maybe resurface all discs so they r in good condition and then maybe some nice qualuity pads coz u might get a lil broke coz of this whole thing, and then when funds get better and u have the urge for more speed and stop THEN look into upgrading discs.

i mean some entry level endless pads would be good on resurface discs mate

zc EDs r nice lil weapons imo.

light, nimble but still holding the original chassis/engine integrity.

i consider it as a project car if i wasnt arse deep in eg

rofl looks like this thread is just between you and me :D

I see your point about the brakes.

I love my ED and a zc would make it even better.

I think you will have to use the CRX hood with the little lump in it to fit the ZC under there. It should fit straight on.

If you get a hydro gearbox, you will need a cable - hydro conversion kit. I got one from Hasport, cost me about $300 + shipping. Probably easier to try to fin d a calbe operated gearbox. (Dunno if there are acy for ZC, my knowledge is crap) You may be able to make up a custom one though for cheaper, look around on the internet, there are instructions somewhere.

For brakes, on my car I used some DA8 Integra front brake setup (all the arms and stuff), and used the EG VTI (EG4?) rear brake setup. Used a DA8 Integra Brake booster, Prop Valve, and Master Cylinder. Defiently worth the upgrade with the BB, PV & MC, they are heaps bigger.

As for fuel pump I am pretty sure you can use a normal one (I was going to use a WRX one at one stage), but I decided to get a aftermarket one.

vti eg5 brakes fit?? awesome, if they do maybe ek4 ones will???

Dont think EK4 ones would fit coz of all the arms and stuff needed to bolt it on. But then again it might? But I was looking at the project mu site the other day, and most of the disk sizes are the same anyways, I think it was only really the type r's that had bigger disks. Might be some caliper size difference though, not sure.

Your the Endless brake man Trav, check to see if they use the same rear pads on the EK4 as they do on the EG5.

lol trev, eg5 pads and ek4 pads r different, its just tah u can chuck on ek4 hubs to an eg so if eg fit, wouldnt ek4s fit in place of eg one??

am i high? lol

Im not too familiar with EG's but by the sounds of it then yes, it should fit. But I would be thinking that all you will get is a bigger caliper, not disk. But if it fits, then it would be a good upgrade

I remember seeing a crv caliper crx rotor setup somewhere...? what do you think about this + normal rear crx brakes, does it even work :D

I think I have most of my info, Just need to get a wiring diagram which i think i may have.

When its time i'll also do a write up of this with full pics

I went for a wreckers cruise today with my mate and we ended up at honbits. I was asking if he had a CRX front cut and he said that i should just get an ef9/8 front cut as it would cost the same....

I'm like o k ....., personally i find that alil hard to believe, he said around 2- 2500$ for the b16a. opinions?

anyone know where some auctions are, I might try and find a crx with some rear end damage or i'll keep asking around at some wreckers.
