Just wondering what exhaust systems are available for the Civic VTi-R? I would be looking for a complete bolt-on system including headers. I have had a look at Spoon and Toda but they seem to only do exhausts for the Civic Type R. Will the Type R exhausts fit a VTi-R? If anyone can recommend anything please let me know.

SPOON!
they actually make headers for the EK4
the b-pipe and muffler are the same for all EKs

from wot i understand, headers made for the b18c(teggy type r) n b16b(civic type r) are all interchangeble with the b16a (eg6, civic vti-r, del sol) howeva exhausts are not due different chassis lengths and mounting positions, hope that helps:)

does this thread also apply to EM1s ? i.e: Interchangeable between EKs as well as EM1s?

Thanks.

Correct me if im wrong but i was told that the ek, eg, dc2 all had interchangeable exhausts/suspension so if this is correct i guess u could get sumthin from a dc2? dont quote me on this tho

No i don't think the exhaust systems are interchangable.

depends which VTI-R you're talking about, if the EK4, it should fit.. if the EM1 it most likely won't (without modification) since the chassis is longer..

Extractors are all the same on all B series engine (except US spec due to the clutch slave being on the other end) THe only difference between the remainder is of the shape of your car. All ek hatches are the same, most of the sedans are similar also.
You should be able to get the extractors and mufflers and get the rest made up by an exhaust shop.

Cheers guys much appreciated. I would like to steer clear of exhaust shops and go with proven brands as I would much rather go for quality over saving a bit of money. The car is a VTi-R hatch too. I am looking at the Buddy club system and Spoon headers, does anyone have any experience with the Buddy Club exhausts?

EK's (hatchbacks) have a shorter chassis compared to our EM's (coupes).

So they sound like crap? Loud is ok but it has to be a nice note.

SPOOOOOOON sounds good... Mugen sounds good too... but the Spoon N1 is rather loud but when

u engage vtec, it screams but still quite noisy when at idle, not LOUD but loud :p

mugen is quiet on idle but roars in vtec :D

i know when you heard that it sounds like a lawn mower you thought "crap", but it's nice. most probably the cleanest VTEC sound you'd hear from a B16.

Ah sweet as man ;)

One more stupid question from me. Is the Buddy Club exhaust a cat-back system or does it join onto the headers?

slightly off topic... but do u know someone called SiR JDM? LOL.

buddy club make cat backs... the spec2 and spec3 are good but very noisy.

the spoon n1 is pretty good too, but it's a bit droney inside the car.

the apexi n1 sounds farty.

mugen twinloop sounds like stock haha.

as for dc2/eg/ek exhausts being interchangable, well they arn't, but they are similar in terms of pipe layout.

for headers, b18c/b16b headers will fit the b16a and b16b. But you may have problems with ground clearance if you have a low car.

the b16a headers will only fit the b16a.

generally they sell as cat-back system. do you have aftermarket headers?

if you need a hook-up with a Spec II let me know,

you cannot use EG/DC sussy on EK or vice versa
you can only put dc2R sussy onto EG if u have type R LCA

Cheers for all the help guys.

One quick question for a mate. Will the Buddy Club exhaust for an EG6 fit an EG VTi? I relaise the EG6 has a B16A and the VTi has the SOHC engine but being a cat-back system won't it fit ok?

tanghy

you may have to do some mods to the cat to catback flanges
