hi guys,

just wondering if anyone can help me, i am looking to purchase a bolt on exhaust for a civic sedan 96 ek model very soon, and mostly interested in spoon but willing to go for other brands. Engine type is d16y5

- does anyone know if spoon produces an exhaust for the sedan?
- or only the hatch models and integras?
- or do any of the integra ones fit on the sedan at all?
- or any other suggestions of jdm brands that will bolt onto a sedan?

thanks

All B-pipes are standard to Coupe, HB and Sedan. The axle-back is the part you have to be aware of. Spoon N1 and street axle backs will be too short for a sedan.

Spoon does not make axle backs to fit sedans and coupes.

yup Spoon only makes hatch types for EK series

what exactly is the axle back? is that part of the b pipe?

what exactly is the axle back? is that part of the b pipe?

It is the part that literally starts at the rear axle and contains a flange to connect to the prior section as well as some piping, muffler and tip (usually). As for my understanding this is different to the b pipe which is before the axle back (ie closer to the engine).

For an actual picture of an axle back see Spoons website http://www.spoon.jp/jp/products/lineup_master.php?category=4 and click on tail silencer. The first two products displayed are axle back exhaust components.

so the b-pipe shud fit no worries? may need some customization on the axle back?

While I dont know the specifics (you are probably better to speak to someone who does), axle back exhausts tend to run over the top of the axle. I suspect that the different lengths of the chasis mean that the axles are in a different position and therefore the bend in the piping is not in the right position for the different body shapes.

I don't think the axles are in a different position as the wheelbase is the same (I think). It's the length of the back of the vehicle, the bumper etc. that matters.

Ah ok, but you knew what I meant :). So in otherwords, as the wheelbase is longer in the sedan (over the hatch/coupe etc) the length of the pipe and the position of the bend will be different.

just get the b pipe and a vision axle back. vision make it for sedan

Hahaha, no no Zdster, the wheelbase (I THINK!!) is the same! Which is why side skirts off all models can fit each other. Correct me if I'm wrong but I think the wheelbase for sedan, hatch and coupe of the EK series is exactly the same.

Your classic Zdster. :D

Now I understand :D. Vision exhaust would also be a good option if Spoon dont make the desired axle back.

hi guys...

do email me if u have question. i have turn off my PM becos it is better for me as i do have lots of email everyday. the pm box is not enough and it is frustrating for you if my pm box is full and u cant reach me.

btw

vision and spoon make for sedan

vision b-pipe for ek is the same of hatch, sedan or coupe
vision n1 muffler has two kind, one for hatch and the other one to fit sedan or coupe.

spoon b-pipe for ek fit hatch, sedan or coupe.
spoon make for EK4 or EG9 sedan as well, this is for civic ferio, part no 18030-EG9-011

while hatch back is 18030-EG6-011.

vision catback for sedan already in STOCK at the moment. hope this helps :D

So hondar, what is the difference between the sedan/coupe and hatch? Is it just that the hatch axle back/muffler is a shorter pipe?

mate, i thought i just explained it... lol :D

i say again s... l..o..w..l...y...

B-pipe in EK same length regardless in EK HATCH, EK SEDAN OR EK COUPE.

EK HATCH = shorter axleback -pipe muffler
EK SEDAN OR COUPE = longer axle back pipe muffler

SEDAN AND COUPE Share the same car length in that sense

so the key is choosing the right axle back. Bpipe is pretty much the same. :D

Ok ok, one more stoopid question, will the EG9 (sedan) exhaust fit an EK sedan and coupe?

tRipitaka
05-06-2005, 12:12 PM
i'd say with a bit of modifications, it should fit.. that's with the EKhatch/EGhatch one.. so i'm assuming it's the same with the sedans..

would you say the vision or the spoon n1 muffler is quieter?

Waggy

Apparently the Vision is. According to honda_r anyway.

I'll be buying the Vision one soonish, undecided whether to get the N1 or the street exhaust though... :D
