Hey guys, just looking to replace my POS boss amp (you get what you pay for, and it truly is what i deserve for cheaping out :p ). Any way, ive got to run 250w components, and 330w 6x9s off of this new amp, so at the moment its looking to be replaced with a 480w pioneer amp, which is going to set me back around $400. Im also going to be saving for a pioneer 1000w mono block to run my 800w sub. I'd just like to hear suggestions for anything else around this price range that might be better, becaue i dont trust half the shifty salesmen around!

oh trust me, i hear people rag on explode, but boss are worse. Depending on the temperature of the day, and how loud my music is, the power protection will cut in anywhere between 10 minutes and a couple of hours which is very embarassing if people outside the car notice. I picked it up at strathfield for $189, so its not bad for its price, but needs replacing for sure. Im just wondering what brands i should be looking at in my price range.

looking from ur stuff u already got, i'm guessing u a pioneer fan right?... 330W 6x9's are Pioneer i'm
gathering... well if i'm right, why dont u go a Pioneer GM-6100 4 Channel amp, it retails at JB
for bout $399... i'm sure the JB boys in NSW can do alot betta than that... if not go maybe a
Coustic 4 Channel if u dont mind spending a lil more than but its value for money or else go something
like JL Audio, Cadence, Kicker etc... ;) GOOD LUCK :D

Haha yeah well from what ive heard they are pretty reliable, other names been plugged by salesmen have been alpine clarion and soundstorm, but you know you cant trust someone who gets paid to sell it to you! But yeah im a pioneer fan i guess! lol. Im about to duck down to strathfield for some pricing, ill get back with what i find.

yeah the new one thats why im so stoked about it, but the problem is i havnt even got that much cash at the moment! Do they do lay-by at strathfield? I would do it on finance if i was 100% sure i could pay it back during the interest free period but im not.

If i remember correctly strathfield deals with Buyers Edge which is a company of GE Finance. They will offer you a 6 months interest free period.....
But make sure when purchasing the item it gives you everything. I remember once seeing it at Strathfield for $1500 for a Pioneer DVD player but then you will need to buy some extra parts to go with the unit. Ask them again if it includes everything....

yeah i was a bit suss about why it was so cheap. Ill clear that up for sure. yeah they do 6 months interest free, but i havnt got a job at the moment so cant really afford it which is why id like to do layby while the deals still on and if i get a job i can just pay it off and not risk a bad credit rating.

thought stuff it and just bought the amp. 480w pioneer, should be good. I went to put it in during the week but the old man has misplaced my bag full of wires and stuff (over $100 worth! so pissed!). Probably turn up somewhere.

From what i remember that amp is around 4 x 40w RMS?? That should be fairly close to the nominal ratings of ur speakers, so it should sound fine...
