just lowered my car, and been told to remove the plastic inside the guards to stop the rubbing, im going ahead with doing it but im worried that mud and shit like that will get into places it shouldnt be, will this happen?

how low are you gona go? if you're at 1.5" just leave them. If you have a CAI def leave them otherwise the filter will get dirty too fast.

I would try to have them on if possible, all the dirt and crap that you'll pickup will get thrown all over the inside of the guards and the back of the headlights.
