check your intake manifold for petrol reservoirs in between the runners near the injectors.

If you see any fluid there, It may be worth while pulling the injectors and checking the o-rings (fuel rail side) for cracks. Replace them anyway while they're out for peace of mind.

if it were running rich it wouldnt smell of fuel, it would just stink and blow heaps of smoke.
in the crx you sit vertually in front of the fuel tank, check under the car, look for weeping, check the top of the tank as the inlet from the filler cap runs into it maybe it is seeping inside the inside rear guard or something look along fuel lines, filter and around all hose clamps for weeping or cracks.

last time my friends car had a fuel smell in the cabin, we searched everywhere and found a small hole under the rear seat. dont know how it got there but we blocked it up with some tape to see if the smell would stop, and it did! so maybe check for something like that? cheers

where did you mount the amp, you didnt drill the screws into the tank did you, ive seen it happen before
got the same thing happening in my car.. just havent had a chance to check it out.

not cool. can only patch it up, cant weld it or anything
disconnect the amp right away mate they spark pretty easy

remove the tank.
remove all fuel from the tank and wash it thoroughly with detergent and then take it to a car wash and blast the residue from it.
When dry, torch the tank to burn off any flamable residue.
Take it to get welded up.
Re-install in the car.

a dad of a mate of mine is a gun mechanic said that they used to connect a pipe from the exhaust to the filler cap to fill the tank with carbon dioxide so there would be no oxygen for the fuel to burn, then they would weld it.
i dunno though id prolly rather take it out and do it properly just incase you blew yourself and your car up.
