Keep the current format of having traders advertise when they get a new product. But how about having them put a sticky thread each (thats locked) that has a summary of what they are selling and prices?

its annoyng having to browse through all those spammed buyer threads

I second that ... Lists will be maintained by individual trader..

That's an idea.....but we might end up with quite a few stickies ;)

Maybe a sticky thread and each trader make one post in that sticky thread?

hmmm could get confusing one tread per trader if they have multiple items and so forth
how many traders are the
maybe a section for each trader and post for each item ahhh to much though

hmmm one sticky post for each trader, and they can update prices on all the parts they have in stock. new stock thats in, they can post it as per normal....then update it in their sticky. good suggestion ghost....

I've said this before, each trader gets a sub-forum.
But otherwise, not a bad idea Gary, if we manage to work out how we gonna do this. :)

perhaps not a sticky, but make links from the trades one individual post that list all items, and then hyperlink them to a sub forum for them like toe suggests

this has been suggested before i am sure of it.

i reckon go for what mr toE says and have sub forums

cant we give the traders righst to lock/unlock/modify ONE THREAD of their own?

in that way they can prevent spam and give a "catalogue"

This is the thread where it was last brought up:
http://www.ozhonda.com/forum/showthread.php?t=13068&highlight=trader

From that it seems that people were happy the way it was. The only feasible option I can see is a sub-forum for each trader but this might make it a bit harder for members because they have to visit each sub-forum instead of seeing all the products in one forum.

I might make a POLL for the traders and see what they say. ?

If we have one thread each as a sticky.........the number of stickies in that forum would be.........errr quite large!

dont we have like 10 traders in total? 10 stickies isnt that much is it? and they'd all be one post threads anyway...

exactly why SUBFORUMS for each trader would be a better idea.

click on the trader and all their for sale posts come up

sub forums are good i admit yeh but that still wont be a summary... having a sticky just listing the entire catalogue in one post owuld make browsing much easier....

But at the end of the day, it's up to the traders if they want to have a catalogue or not.
I don't think we can impose it on them. I don't feel it to be right for us to demand (for lack of word) of them to have a catalogue.

My 2c.

Agreed that it is upto the traders to coninually update that catalogue post but in all honesty I don't see them doing that. They would rather just make a new thread with their items. So far the sub-forum thing looks more like a go from what I can see.

It just means you guys browsing will have to browse each traders forum individually.

I can't remember who may have posted it, but can't traders just lock the thread after posting their ad, and be contacted by PM or something? I too find it annoying that there are multiple pages of "PM sent" and "PM replied" in some instances.

just a thought

sorry if im lost and if im not supose to reply here but by having sub headings wouldnt it be harder for people to view products being sold??...as in like say i wanted to see wat egsi had for sale i would have to go traders --> egsi --> then only wen i click on him i see wats for sale...but only see his stuff...(hopefully it makes sense) if this is the case that would mean that i have to individually go through every trader one by one to see wats new for sale??..

or do i have the concept all wrong

it would make life easier wyn seroiusly... u can have a sub for each trader then a general noticeboard to alert ppl of the new products

How about TRADERS ask the public (i.e. people here) what they want to buy rather than trying to push a particular product or group buys that people might not want or be interested in.

That might save the TRADERS time and money in bringing items in from other countries that might not sell and collect dust in their store rooms for a long time...

Just my thoughts :)

One of the traders suggested sub-forums based on different parts.

EG

Engine mods
Intake mods
Exhaust Mods
Cosmetic (Body kits)

etc

So its either that or traders get their own sub-forum.

just means that engine mods is going to have the same problem as current forum is. and where do you put things like the spoon catalog?

plus with traders with their own forum each they wont be trying to "out bump" each other.

traders should just put their catalogoe as a sticky threads in their own forum i reckon... and then have the ususal stuff listed in separate posts all the way down...

i think it is just easier just to have your own sub-forum... we traders just do updating ourselves.. simple..

when i first started, there is only 2 traders.. jdmyard and myself.. now we have 10 and getting abit overcrowded..

subforum will be good on the first page.. people can just go to different shop...
also we can have a sticky in each sub-forum that we can add payment details, abn and so on... people can just go to different shop,

but on the traders forums we can have like a space in which we can update ourself and everyone can have a read with latest news from each trader..

its a better system i think.. and yes we can solve the problem of bumping..

:D
