Hi People, I have a 94 EG Honda civic, which has the SOHC vtec motor in it( d16y i think) Have you got any suggestions on getting more power from it, other than turboing, which i cant do because of insurance reasons.

have you tried the turbtronix airfilter suction intake system. proven extra 15kws. and there's also a ecu piggy back rom chip called techique-tec. designed for honda's with changes air/flow ratio's which increases a further 10kws.

then do your stand exhuast system etc.

Sorry to hijack but when people do B16A conversions into these VTi's is it a straight forward conversion? Also does the car remain reliable?

i flog mine to death every weekend hehehe... it loves me for it :)

D16y is a good little engine - IMO not one that can be worked on (ie applying the same path as say a b16a or b18c).

If you want bigger power that is, look for a small turbo or an engine swap. I am real happy with my D16Y, it performs like it should out of the factory and the EG with some light rims and good sussy goes real well...

For power turbo is the best way to go but if your lke me and have to say N/A

Upgrade
Cams
Cam gears
Valve train
Programmable ECU

All will more that likely cost the same as a turbo setup but without the wicked power @ 8psi

This of from ready Motor websites and I'm sure there heaps of ppl here the know the mad stuff but there over having to say it over and over again

PS
SOHC power :p

ha ha. SOHC = cam not cams and cam gear not gears.
but yeah that stuff along with I/H/E.
but dont forget the handling department. speed doesnt just come from power
