my cars temp tends to go cold at night, eventhough im driving it hard. when im at a stand still eg: lights,or just stopping. the temp goes to normal operating temp. my car does not over heat nor does it have any problems with the heater/ a/c...
does anybody know why this occurs??
does this happen to any body elses dc2?
please let me know
thanks...

maybe u need a new thermostat...its not really good to drive it hard when the temp is low

do u have your heater on while driving??
in my mates ford wagon has a tendency to overheat, so to overcome this he simply turns his heater on and the temp guage drops almost instantaneously.
'just an ol trick i picked up driving in the outback!' he tells me.
give it a try and let me know...
maybe im thinking to simple or logical and there may be something wrong wth th car...? but give it a go, mite save you some dollars!

you realise theres a stickie at the top of the integra forum
i dunno what ur problem is exactly but if its relavent, when i drive my car at night, once its at "normal" temp, when i drive it hard, my CAI sucks in all that very cold winter air goodness and i notice the temp needle goes down a bit (like half an interval), then when i idle it goes back to "normal"... so i take it as the cold air coming in as it is winter...
how far does ur needle go down?

his not saying his car overheats, hes saying it runs too cool
lol alex, read it again man.
hes not saying the car is overheateing, hes saying a trick to use when a car over heats is turn on the heater and the temp goes down. so maybe the heater is already on, so thats why the temp is going down further. ;)
but afaik, its not too much a problem. its just normal when its cold at night and ur giving it a hoot, the airs cold, and is being sucked in and giving u fresh air. if the temp goes under/past the beginning line, then yeah u might have a problem, otherwise it should be fine.

my car would go to normal operating temp while i warm it up then while i drive go back down to the "C" somestimes even before the C. the needle would always sit iether right on the line or next to it??

The Mass: My car used to do that exact same thing too. I could drive for 40 minutes straight and the temp. needle wouldnt even budge. But there wasn't anything wrong with it as very very rarely, the needle would go up a bit.
When I changed my radiator though all that has changed, and it goes up to the normal driving temp. Weird and I'm sorry, but I have no explanation!

think it's normal, cause my car only started to do the same, these couple of day,s maybe weels, but also, i've install a defi water temp, and that one reads spot on, but the standard guages still really low and that's after 1 1/2 hour of driving. I think it's just the water sensor is cold or something

mine does exactly the same thing, been wanting to find out what it is for ages.
it goes right down to the cold line when im on the freeway, but once i stop it goes back to the normal running temp after a while, it also tends to run almost at the right temp when im in traffic, wish i knew what i was thats making it do this

That isn't the reason for the temp gauge going down. Cold air getting sucked in will warm up once it combusts. The reason the temp gauge goes down in that particular case is because of all the cold air hiting the radiator when you're driving!
See this thread..........it's even in the sticky

I have had the exact same problem with my dc2r, when driving the car would go to normal operating temperature, then as i drive for a bit longer the temp would drop just a bit above "C" and this would continue to keep fluctuating for as long as i was driving.
I replaced the thermostat myself and after that the needle never moved from the normal operating temperature, try replacing the thermostat first see if that will fix your problem.
