Whats the actual difference... parts wise, and well any other info you know. I know j-spec is more powerful from, what i was told, the ecu being tuned differently. if this is the case if the need should arise could the engine run the aussy spec tuned ecu?

You may now enlighten me.

yes it will work with an aus ecu. just that it will run slower..

im guessing a different exhaust system? because emisson laws are different?

hi there,

i think one of the difference is the compression ratio of the engine.
JDM engine has 10.6:1 while Aussie has 10:1.

that 0.6 ratio makes a lot of different in power-produced.

Of course it doesn mean that you need put up as much compression as possible.

It is important that you measure the STATIC and DYNAMIC compression of the engine before you do anything to it. Otherwise you will have too much compression which is not good as well.

:) hope that helps

Nah man the compression is 11.0. The Japs i think is the same but not sure because they use slightly different pistons. But the Aus spec compresion is 11.0...... not 10.1.

is that the type r you are referring to? cos the JDM Type r only runs 11.1:1 as far as i know.

11.0:0 for a normal B18C aussie spec is a bit high. i remember in the region of 10. something.

anyone else has any feedbacks.... anyone who can verify this?

:)

Yes it is the TypeR im refering too. Our Aussi specs im sure are all stock the same 11.1.... im not sure about the last number, well at least mine is anyway which is aussi spec.

okey,

let me clear a few things first. the b18c i assume that we are talking here is the Vti-R or Sir or GSR and not the Type r.

SIKCVC, which one are you referring to? To me unless you mention like B18C type r, i assume is the Vtir which has 10.1:1 ratio that we are talking about here.

Maybe lies the main problem. Miscommunication... *grin*

The bottom line is that usually a JDM spec B series motor will output higher figures due to comp ratio, ECU etc - plus the fact they generally have a higher octane fuel to run on (102??)

yes,

thats they way i see it, the compression is different as the pistons used is different.

The bore and the stroke are the same.

my issue is that in order for my car to pass engerneering without having major engine testing all the parts must be the same.

and yes i was refering to the VtiR b18c... so long as the engine no.'s from the j-spec and aus-spec are the same then its cool :D

the numbers are not the same dood; and there are technical differences b/ween both engines. PM for more info :)

The differences I'm pretty sure have been posted on here before
