Hey peoples,

I was at a late night motor even *wink* and i happened to be taking a Mazda Mx6, i drive a Civic hatch Vtir wit a few mods. If u know EKIV's car it was his friend green one, anyways on launch he took off, i was still not going to well, any ways soon as he went to change to second, i went past him cause of vtec. Anyways i wanna know how i can get a better take off. like wat is the best way to get a good launch.

thanks

Get a vtec controller and set it to kick in at 1000 rpms ???

Vtec is set from factory for a reason.

Better launch
B16A EK - 3500RPM, dump clutch slowly, hold revs up, just creep the accelerator down for about 2 secs then depress the rest of clutch and nail accel.... I could show you a better way, but thats the best I can describe - USE MORE REVS.

What would also help would be lightweight wheels, Lightweight flywheel, sticky tyres, maybe a clutch....

You should nail an MX6, so practice your launches

Hold your clutch so its JUST not pulling the car (just below friction point), And have some form of high RPM (bout 5-6).. At this time your handbrake should be on and when the lights go green, drop the handbrake and let go of the clutch :) Might drop a bit of a patch but oh well lol

Um, keep the rpm lower and save your clutch... and don't use the handbrake, balnce the load with your clutch, then lift on the green a little, as you slowly drop accelerator. The idea is to get the revs up as quick as possible without wheelspin,so you get onto Hi Cam quicker, and smoke his ass

Get yourself a set of Falken Azenis rt215's then rev to 6k drop the clutch and hold on to the steering wheel.

have you tried a 6,000RPM dump? :D
change to 2nd as soon as you lose traction. :P

i agree but dont change as soon as you lose traction because the car might only be going 30-40km/h. and if you change to 2nd the revs will drop and youll get bog down. stay on the throttle until you grip it shouldnt spin for that long. (ease off if it is spinning so much that it seems that youre doing a burn out )

Man, lucky I drive a Prelude, no need to rev it to 6 and dump it... 3500 works perfectly...

mmm, tried some falken azenis on a Type R. I didn't think they were overly great, but launched hard.... I have never done a 6K launch in any car.... in most hondas, @ 6K you are on Hi Cam... that would be nuts , bad for the clutch, but fast if you could....

4,500 RPM..

you dont want to launch into VTEC as you will just smoke the tyres..

feather the clutch OUT and feather the GAS IN, when foot is off the clutch, plant your right foot through the floor..

do all that in about 0.5 sec and you will be a length in front of the MX6 before he gets off the line ; )

hrrmzz i cant launch my accord too..
its too hard if having a heavy duty clutch..
i take off at 3k and it starts to fry em..
hrrmz... very weird....

I like launching using the hand brake myself :)

I rev the car with the handbrake on full, so it starts moving a little bit and keep the revs up to about 5500RPM. Then quickly drop the clutch but also slip it a little bit just before it grabs on the initial takeoff..... and i'm awaaay :D

how many threads are there about launching? dude did u check out the other threads first? a lot of repeating going on... best way is to take ur car to a private road and practice ur launching at different revs and techniques and know ur car. that's it!
