What are your thoughts about the Integra Type-S?

kinda thinking about an upgrade soon. i've arranged a test drive next week, looking forward to it.

Would you choose it over a VW Golf GTi?

Just quick thoughts if you can. Thank YOU!

I'm not to fuss about speed, i mean both have enough power for the street(in my mind)
what about comfort, build quality, interior design... qualities such as those that makes the car...

Any input from Type S owners please? Whats the handling like, steering/good/bad? ridability..

MOTOR Magazine says its the fastest integra they've built so far.

if u r not fuss abt speed...ok...

here is my experience...
the one that i drove had bilstenin shocks and ibach springs... handles very well.. and yet quite comfy... built quality wise pretty good..as u can expect from typical euro car... i have say the sound system is v good for stock....it makes an excellent everyday car....just not too satisfy with the performance...

by the way i ve been driving that car for like a few months... hope this helps...

Well ive driven an AUDM DC5R and its handling was awesome so when you hear that the new type S is meant to have better handling and has extra power with killer looks it has to be good

I hate to say this mate but if you search you will find a new review about the Type S written by one of our forum members.

Well worth the read if you bother to look for it.

If you are talking about the new MK V GTi, I would take that over the Type S, being a turbo, it has more potential..... and car journos are rating it pretty high too.

I drive a DC5S on a daily basis. i can only compare it to a DC5R and Jazz :P

ok... plenty of power, with two people in the car, the car will give a fair bit of pull up a hill on 6th Gear. The steering is very sensitive, guage is nice , interior is very nice. The sun roof is always annoying trying to get it to that exact right angle. A very comfortable ride compared to the R, and less tiring to drive. The rear spoiler doesn't really look like a spoiler ...

Find that interesting "fastest one they built"

7kw more
70kg heavier
minus lsd

Than aus dc5r

*the interior is more pratical, downside is that thing on the back they call a spoiler.

hahaha thats the exact opposite to me man.. i drive mum's type S around quite a bit, and whenever i see typeR's they seem to want to run me.. so far mum has had the car since february and i can easily say that more than a dozen guys in typeR's have wanted to give me a go..

but in my opinion, i have driven both a dc5r (my cousins) and mum's typeS, the handling is much better, i feel that the steering is much heavier in the typeS being more realistic i guess when it comes for turning. Power, i feel that they are about the same when comparing the dc5r to the typeS.. the features in the typeS are pretty cool, the guages, the electric sunroof, the leather interior, also the double din mp3 player/ 6stacker, also comes with 17" 5spoke rims.. its a fun ride, and still gets looks from people even though its stock. :)

I'm not convinced about the build quality of vw's. My sister had a 95 golf and had nothing but problems with it. My cuz and another friend had the exact same car and had even more problems. The same cousin bought the next gen up and had EVEN more problems with it. I would never own a vw ever again with all the headaches that come with it.

The car is feels solid and I would feel safe in it if I were to get into an accident, ibut you can't have an accident in it if the car is off the road more than on.... food for thought..

if you can put up with yellowing paint, indifferent build quality, exhausts that catch and burn on bumpers, a lousy dealer network and a general lack of reliability, vw's are great cars. :)

type S instead buddy...its pretty much a prelude VTIR in an integra body...updated bit more power..little lighter...hence the demise of the prelude and type R...if you do purchase it make sure you get the body kit with it

i cant imagine steering in the S being heavier than the R, when i got my R i wondered for a split second if my power steer works!! its pretty heavy - but for all the good reasons and i love it

Sorry industrie would tend to disagree a little with your last statement.

Yes it is updated with an extra 7kw? or so, but it is not lighter, 70kg? heavier as mentioned earlier.

demise of the type r? the type R is in no way been replaced by the type S. It has only been replaced by the type S in Australia. from a purists perspective it is not as raw of a performance car as the dc2R or dc5R. type S also lacks lsd.

My main point is the type S is not better than a type R. We just didnt get the real type R in australia. try comparing a real type R (JDM version) to our type S. incomparable.

I know we didnt get the real type R in Australia, but its defineately not due to the type S being a better performance vehicle that the type R was abolished. Its main reason is because HONDA IS GAY AND BEING TIGHTASSES.

Not having go or stab at you mate, just my opinion. :)

Cabin space in a integra??? Your joking yeah???

Yeah VW have lacked in build quality, as the new golfs I believe are built in S Africa. Its either you get a great batch or Friday batch.

yeah sorry i meant in australia...its because the market itself down here just doesnt have the demand ..and the cost to being it over here is just too expensive...man i wanna race a type S in the lude..see how it goes

ludes will ultimately lose :D

and yeah cabin space is pretty roomy for a sports coupe... (ever been in a fto) BUT more importantly has a decent boot size... something the golf doesnt have... which is important for me... cause of my golf bag :)

i had the same thoughts! As in I thought the type R steering is heavy. Man if the Type S is even heavier then you would be working out everytime you drive!

Not sure about heavy = realistic...

I saw one today on the road... It was white and it was damn clean! And if I was in my type R i would of given it a run! LOL! Since he was hooning it around ne ways...

if your looking for practicality you can't go past the golf gti with 4 doors. Extracting potential from that 2.0 fsi turbo engine should be a breeze too - the same powerplant in the new audi A3 turbo sportback and 2 door aswell as the 2.0 fsi turbo A4 model. Sure K20A has shitloads of potential too but i duno, i've always been a fan of the golf (saw one the other day on the road and it looked damn evil )

either way your a winner :D

CONAN

HyperZ, yes I got my car in March this year. I use my EK4 for work, I have to travel ALOT around Sydney for work. On average clocking about 800-1200kms a week.
I'm still planning to keep the car, but want another weekend car.
Just gotta see if i like the Type-S, so far so good with all good reviews/comments and if if my finances are adequate.

Look at all the standard equip on the golf.... and it's quicker 0-100, and it's cheaper... You can option a sunroof and still come in cheaper.
Dunno bout anyone else, but that looks like more for your money to me....

TypeS would be pretty nice to drive I reckon, although I love my R, I still would of brought an S at the time.

Man those GTI's would have to be the ugliest car I seen for a while....
