So to Canada. Street circuit and a very street circuit street circuit. Very stop and start, short straight - chicane - short staight - hairpin - short straight - chicane - short straight - chicane, you get the picture.

So.... lots of big stops, lots of hot brakes, probably a few lock-ups into turn 10 which looks like the only real place to overtake. Or maybe turn 14.

That means... advantage Renault with their big torque engines. The McLarens are again set up very nicely and very fast. A lot will depend on qualifying between McLaren and Renault. Will the McLarens again suffer from flat spots? Will the Renaults' tyres last the race or will Alonso have to go defensive again?

The Williams' will surely struggle and get maimed on those straights.
BAR, will the brakes hold up?

And very importantly... will the weather hold out??! If it rains then it will be anyone's race, 'cos hardly any of them have done proper wet practice. I just hope it's not dangerously wet, 'cos it would be a shame to spend a lot of laps behind the safety car.

So, who's going to stay up to watch the race at 3am? Is the Ten telecast live?

LUD02C
11-06-2005, 05:51 PM
Ten is showing it at 2:45am coverage starts, so its LIVE!
I think Toyota is one to watch here, Renault and McLaren will be strong, but something is telling me a Renault DNF.

If it rains, Ferrari 1-2 by 2-3 minutes, only Ferrari/Bridgestone have been doing testing in the rain and Michael is unbelieveable in the wet aswell.

Might be 1-2 safety car periods I think, if there is things should get interesting, either way I think its going to be a great exciting race!

Oh and hell yeh i'll be watching it.

He must be running SUPER light!! Button on a 5 stop strategy? :p
Awesome qualifying for the BARs, dismal qualifying by the Williams' and Schumy on the front row!! Jase and Jacko will be pleased.

12-06-2005, 03:54 AM
man wots with this turn around??
Button him self said he wouldnt be able to keep up with Renault n McLaren this round...

disapointed on Webber an the william team! 13 and 14th! they must be running heavy?

Mr Vti

yeh Nick and mark made mistakes on there laps which cost them some time.

LUD02C
12-06-2005, 11:14 AM
Vivski, you have no idea how happy i am!
Return of GOD!

Even if Button is running light, well done to BAR-Honda some positive media for once!
Button did a 1.15.217 while Michael did a 1.15.475 and the closet to that is 1.15.561 by Alonso so the Ferrari and the Renault seem to on the same fuel load but Button must be a lot lighter.

The Williams are both 2 seconds off the pace of the top 7
Thats amazing!

While Renault have put in another great performance.
First corner is going to be good.

Is Schumy going to bloke the Renaults knowing Button is coming in earlier or is he going to go for P1, incase his tyres aren't up to scratch and he has to defend?

If Michael's car goes through the mid race pace again and he is in the top 5 watch out P1 cause he'll catch you in 6-10 laps!
Oh what a race its going to be!

if button was running light... u'd think his top speed woulda been higher... but suprisingly it was 318kmph... 12km's down from his nearest rivals on the grid...
or maybe they're running a more aggressive aero package... hmmmm

Vivski
12-06-2005, 01:55 PM
The light fuel load tactic might pay off for Button here, but only if two things happen...
1) If he leads into the first corner.
2) If Michael stays ahead of the Renaults and McLarens
3) If he can get away from Michael.

If it's Button-Schumacher into the first corner then he'll have a chance, 'cos Alonso will be all over Michael for the first few laps and Michael will defend intensely.

BUT that's assuming Button gets to turn 1 first. Michael will attack into turn 1 for sure!! He'll be hoping he can do the opposite to what I said above and put Button between he and the Renaults and McLarens.

BUT what if Alonso scorches them all and leads into the first turn?

Very exciting! Have to stay up for this one.

Seems button is running light. As a BAR fan I am looking pleased at Taku's result considering he is above Raikonnen and might be on a 2 stopper! Watch out lads NIPPON is coming to get you!!!!!!!! Also look out for JPM, I think he could have a huge race!

hmmm BAR's straight line speed is a bit worrying...
on the speed trap .. taku n jenson recorded the 14th n 16th fastest speeds respectively... n kimi was inbetween the two (all three amongst the jordans n minardis)... hmmmm
man cant wait to see how it all plays out..

not a bad race. always seems to be incidents at Canada. Didnt work out well for BAR. Still with no constructors points. 2005 very dissapointing so far. As for the pole. It wasn't sheer pace in the car like we all hoped.

Oh well. Fingers crossed for Indy. New engine and parts. Hopefulli a BAR 1-2

I put in the thread that I would be closing the thread at 20:00 on Sunday night.
If the other tippers have no problem then I have no problem excepting your tips :D

Can the other tippers PM me please.

What a race.
- JPM black flagged
- Michael and Rubens on the podium
- Jenson has nothing under pressure and hits the tyre wall
- Fisichella doesn't allow Alonso through (good on him)
- Kimi is brought in first over Juan :thumbdwn:
- Massa has a fantastic race and finishes 4th.
- Webber, I have nothing to say.
- What BAR-Honda did with Sato was brilliant. Full credit to them.

Now, we have a domino effect.
Ferrari and Kimi have good placing for qualifying, as Martin said you need a few cars to "clean" the track for you and the Renaults and a few other top runners are going to be doing exactly that :)

I said in a thread that Renault will have a DNF.
Go me!

Yeh, but as for the tipping, whatever is in this thread if the other tippers are happy please pm me and i'll except them!
I have no dramas with it, tips were put in before the race.
Sound fare?

jackosimm
13-06-2005, 12:26 PM
Yeah very fare.
That was good with Sato, pitty it failed again though, LOL @ montoya, if that red lights as bright as martin and james said, he should of seen it, and known the rule too.

a lot of dummy spits in this one huh? with fisi and JPM, although when they crossed to the footage when JPM went and retired to the pit, he was cool and calm, but i think one of his mechanics chucked something!

woohoo, i picked kimi to be first!!!!
i think everyone else had a shocker of a round.....

bring on indy! and watch the BAR comeback.........

Javed

7th Gen
13-06-2005, 02:18 PM
a race of attrition i guess?

well do you think rubens had any chance of a podium from where he started at the back of the pack? good to see the ferraris come back but i guess some of thats due to all the front runners crashing out or being black flagged :D

(btw when was the last time someone was black flagged? don't remember)

Javed
13-06-2005, 02:35 PM
Yeh exactly, shows how much of a bs race it was for rubens to come third. And to bill woods who said that the ferrari team are showing some strength now or whatever is a ludicrous statement. They are only there because of the rest of the field. Webber got 5th ffs!

jackosimm
13-06-2005, 03:04 PM
it was an outstanding performance by Rubens, and he was rightly wrapped with the outcome too, Ferrari certainly did show improvement, by matching times with race leaders and so forth

The Ferrari of MSC was running at about the same pace as Button in the BAR, which would have never closed up on the Renaults and Mac's. The only reason MSC was close to Raikonnen was due to the safety car.

Great race. Very entertaining. Webber, what happened?! Button, what happened?! Montoya, what happened?! So many brain failures.
Rubens, a very impressive race. Sure there was a great deal of luck in there too, but he did the business. Michael ran a good race, made the most of his opportunities.

Those Renaults off the line. Incredible!

I was over the moon when fisi got through to first by the first corner, probably should have let alonso through but he's within his rights to stay where he was, and then devastated when he slowed and retired....... that was the story of my race haha.

Stand out has to be Barrichello, pit lane to 3rd, fantastic, i

think Alonso could have held off Kimi had he finished, and Schumey only got such a good place as the Renault's went out, on pace he would be 5th or worse, which aint impressive at all. I don't see much improvement in the Ferraris from Imola.

Montoya is a loose cannon as well hey, idiot, he'd best be buying sorry gifts for all his mechanics and Ron/Norbert.

Still, good race, plenty of action, don't like to see anyone retire, and good the series is closer now. But PISSED that fisi is cleaning track next race! not too bad i guess, can jump two or three at the start and be back in it, if Webbers anywhere in the three places ahead of him thats a guaranteed place gained at the start haha!

McLaren vs Renault

If Ferrari don't start winning after Indy I think its fare to say they'll be back in 2006.

I think McLaren has the upper hand with Juan and Kimi, don't get me wrong Fisichella is a brilliant driver, but his luck seems to be against him and he goes hot and cold.

While Alonso might be ahead, McLaren seem to be getting quicker and quicker and being better on there tyres throughout the race.

I must say, if Ferrari and Michael don't win it this year, I'll have to say Kimi will by less then 10 points from Alonso.

I just hope Juan has more luck and doesn't ignore the pit lights.

Also, speaking of Kimi vs Alonso
Will team orders come into it this early into the season?
Still another 9 or so races to go?

1pt hoorah!!! :D

Even if there weren't so many retirements, it was going to be a very exciting race. With Fisi holding everyone up, it was very quickly going to be 2 Renaults, 2 McLarens, Button and Schumacher all in a big freight train.

Well, the rain didn't eventuate. Although it would've been really interesting, I'm glad it stayed away, 'cos it might've spoilt a great race.

Vivski
15-06-2005, 12:44 AM
Oh, and the whole Renaults leaving Jenson and Michael for dead distracted us from Webber's great start from 14th!! He actually got that s-box moving off the line. Pity he made the mistake which cost him the podium, but to take 5th is still a pretty good effort.

It would have been a Renault/McLaren straight fight if it had gone on, although i admit fisi probably would have only got 3rd or 4th. Schumey and BAR were never in the hunt.

How many posts did webber make up on the start?

Vivski
16-06-2005, 01:01 AM
I don't know if he got back any places off the start, but he didn't lose any, so for Williams that's a good start! :p Hopefully he and Heidfeld will be up the front of the grid in Indianapolis so we can do another comparison. :D

It was amazing how many drivers retired from P1, P2 and P3. Fisi, Alonso, Button, Montoya and Trulli. All retired from podium positions.

Vivski
16-06-2005, 01:03 AM
And probably most susprising for the whole race was that no-one had tyre trouble. That was unexpected. I wonder if it will be the same in Indianapolis.

hmmm was it one of the Button that went into the wall last year breaking at the first corner?
That was a terrific smash.
