Well, I've mentioned I've just bought a 1994 Honda Accord Exi. It's done 77000 k's and is in pretty good condition. Got it for $10000 with 2 years warranty, prefect NRMA inspection and just got it serviced. I got it from an NRMA respected Major Honda dealer in Sydney. I've just put in a pioneer headunit which costed me $500 which was a bargain as most places I look at it goes for $800-1000. Anyways, I plan to put in a system, add in angel eye projector headlights, put 17" chromes, most likely concept 5's and to lower it. My uncles a mechanic and is planning to trick up the engine for me for free, tricked my friends car by adding 30kw more to his kw rating, so probably the car the accord would become around 125kw or more after this conversion - funny for an auto but hey! (you gotta realise this first, I don't know much about cars).
But I've got some questions.

1. Do most Accords in this year have ABS and airbags? Cause mine doesn't have either and my friends cord has both.

2. Ok (Well I've got an auto cause I've got an auto license, going manual once I get my greens) for those who have autos, does the D4 light in the dash light up? All the others do except this one. Found it kind of weird.

3. When I hit the brakes slowly it usually makes a sound like 'chuck chuck chuck chuck' just wondering if thats normal?

4. Theres something rattling in the dash, was wondering how to open the dash up as theres nothing in the manual about that. If anyone knows where to begin?

5. How do you know what type of engine you have? I've seen people talking about the h22a engine, what is it and how can you tell if you have one?

Cheers!

when my accord was auto with the f22b, the D4 did light up. I think the light might be blown? to check ur engine code.. its right below the cylinder head.. it will say the code such as H22a or something but im sure u'res is a F22b. The chucking noises may be warped discs.. ask your uncle. The ABS and Airbag was an option im assuming. My accord has Airbag but no ABS.. But the VTi-S's have ABS. hope you like the car,.. just wondering, what do you mean your uncle tricks the car? i wouldnt mind another 30kw on top of my power atm.

thanks for the quick reply, ill check it out soon. Umm my uncle does this for a living, I think he replaces the sparkplugs, fixs up the air filter and adds resistors or some shit like that, I'll ask him the next time I see him, but it does work, I can tell you that, my friends astra was at stock 108kw or something, and after my uncle worked it, goes around 130+

How was your friend's astra's power increase measured?

something like he reads the horse power, dont really know how he does that, then divides it by a certain number, like 1.2 or something and that gives the kw rating.

the exi didnt come with abs and drivers airbag was an option.. vti-s has both as standard..

D4 should light up.. it does in every accord ive ever seen (mine included)

the brakes should make minimal sound.. as prev said, ur discs may be warped..

as for pulling out ur dash.. best to refer to a repair manual so u can see some diagrams

Hope this helps..

i've heard of the resistor thing. it's something to do with changing the signal from the map to deliver more fuel to the cylinder. basically the most basic of basic afc's, without rpm specific alterations. it's not possible to get the gains he's talking about.

30kw wtf? tell him he's dreaming.

He would be a rich man if he could get 30kw out of a F22 with a couple 'tricks'.

hmmm ill find out for sure though, the resistor thing is only a small percentage of it nothing real dramatic, but the whole conversion will cost you about $700, like the sparkplugs are about $100 each and all, but i can say that my friends car has changed alot im sure its around 30kw more, or less?, its only possible on certain engines though,
cheers fong

man let me just say that to get 30kw from a stock accord i think you would have to at least get a low blow turbo set up..otherwise NO WAY would spark plugs and resistors and filters achieve this..... maybe it gained 3kw max

I own a 95 auto Accord too (stock atm). Would anyone know, or be able to guess what it would run on the 1/4 mile? 19s? 21s?

thanks guys,
