hey people, i've had my honda integra vtir for awhil now, and was wanting something abit faster

wondering if i was to change the engine to type r
wat things would i have to consider ?

if possible could list the parts i would need to do a complete conversion from my VTIR into a TYPE R

cheers,

just remember its not just the engine thats the difference between a ITR and VTIR...

theres' suspension work, chasis work, exhaust etc
so just doing the engine swap wouldnt make it a Type R

Why bother? save your money and just mod your car abit.
Typer R's arn't that much better then vtirs :)

yea, vtir block has much more potential then a type r block.
spend the 7 or so grand for the conversion on making an original and uber quick vtir.

thats the first time i've heard that. afaik, the vti-r is slightly inferior to the type-r in just about every aspect. much like the rest of the vehicle. it's easy to catch up and go past them though. you just need to spend money on the right bits and not waste effort "trying shit out" like i did ;)
i.e. do it right the first time and you'll love it.

just build up the existing motor if you are not after a whole new car. shelling out for a type-r motor and transmission isn't really good value for money.

ginanggooly, i'm not using facts to back myself up, but aint the itr block a board bored?! i donno how to spell b16 block, thats been enginered ect, running at higher stress then a b18c block from the vtir, hence more potential as more cc. ?!
idonno im' just guessing.

work on the internals of the vtir b18c2 engine and u will surpass the type r b18c7..

nope...

the bare blocks are the same, they use better parts in the type-r's ;)

Sure is...just like mine

Also,i thnk Ging' is right
looking at the amount he's spent on his car and the awesome ET he's produced, they do hold good potential

Changing it to a Type R engine ain't a cheap option

changing to a type r box is not bad value though when you compare the cost of putting in new LSD and final drive kit into Vtir box.
but yeah, the cost of swapping in a B18c7 is not really the best value as you would gain more by "investing" the money into the current engine

My personal opinion, don't change OEM type-r parts, get better aftermarket parts instead and then you'll build up a lot better integra in everything comparing with a type-r, and cheaper too if you compare the total cost.

:arrowu: yeah that! a lot of what is said here is incorrect... there is a lot more differences between vtir and dc2r than just the engine... and its really up to you what you want out of the car...

just remember that the type-r was made for the track, not the straight line... so changing engine alone will not make your vtir a "type-r"... but if all u want is something faster than ur vtir, then mod ur car instead and i'm sure u can be as "fast" as a type-r or even faster...
