Hi,
I have been looking the past few weeks at the '05 VTi Accord as opposed to the '05 Euro Luxury. Is there many people on here with this shape Accord? All the threads on here seem to be from Euro Accord owners and nothing about the VTi. If anyone here has a VTi, how does it drive and are you enjoying the car?
I was thinking of getting the Euro Luxury, but there is so many around in Melbourne and the VTi has a shape of it's own which is unique I feel.
Also, what sort of prices are you guys getting from the dealers too? I haven't been able to nail a dealer down on a drive away price yet.
Paul.

It's comfy... The Euro can get a little bumpy on gritty roads. My dad would like it though.

I have this shape Accord (V6 Luxury). I tend to agree that while the Euro is a great car, it is simply too common. It's like every monkey and his uncle has one, which what makes the Accord more unique. The looks is either a love it or hate it affair, but I think the look grows on you in a big way and I admit when I first saw it I didn't give it a second glance but now I have one so it just proves my point. It is a big luxurious car. Very comfortable and the power from the V6 is really nice. In my humble opinion, the 2.4 VTi Accord with a comparatively weedy 118kw showhorned into such a large body means you probably wouldn't get any spritely performance out of it, but for the price it is alot of car for the money. All you should do is take one for a test drive and decide for yourself if you like it. What I can tell you is that we have not regretted getting this shape Accord one bit. It is a nice car. Good luck with your purchase and look forward to some pics one day!

G'ah! I hear you!. Time to get the shotgun and go do some monkey and his prick relative family culling! :D
If you can stretch the budget go the V6.

Yeh depends on the owner and what the car is wanted for..........having a Accord Euro im goin to defend it, but the V6 is a nice comfy ride although it seemd rather large. With lots of power though to compensate i wouldnt know the stats but id still say Euro. Alot of Euros out there true! but its wat u do to it Aftermarket that will defrentiate you from the rest, its a matter of not turnin ur head to turning your head when you hear that sporty throaty VTEC roar around the corner and you see the peircing eyes of the Euro eating up the Tarmac.!!!!!anyways its all up to you...lol...

Alpine, my sentaments exactly. I think the Euro is a great car, and was totally in love with it when I first saw it. However as much as I disliked the Japanese/Thai accord the shape grew on me over time.
I have owned a few quick cars in my time, and for me it's time to buy something that looks stylish and respectable for clients to ride with me if need be and is good on fuel around town which can be up to 1000km per week city driving! That is why I am more interested in the 4cyl model rather than the 6.
I am going to test drive one on Wednesday, although I have driven one of these in Jakarta, I don't know if I am expecting a different car as some components (such as suspension) and spec levels very between here and Indonesia for various reasons.

I'm not really interested in driving a 6 cyl.. I have been driving a commodore exec (last of the ecotec motors) and have found them to be a pig with fuel. That has really turned me off 6's and I'm in the city most of the time anyway, so I think a 4cyl will just do me fine. I have also refined my driving style and don't drive hard anymore which is also good on fuel ;)
Anyone got fuel consumption figures for the Accord VTI? I have asked the dealer to try and get the the vti with the v6 luxury leather interior instead of the standard cloth trim.

The 05 V6 accord is 177kw. the 05 euro is 140kw
If i had the choice i would take the V6 as im a petrol head and love my grunt. The V6 owns the 4cl anyday, its quieter, smoother and has so much more low down grunt!
If the new euro is around 39k RRp for auto drive away and the V6 is around 40k drive away RRP i know wat i would get! and remember theres room to move around in those figures too!
I had a customer buy a V6 luxury in black, lowered it and put on some 19"s...looked mad....so if u want some power, get the V6 accord and get out on the road and put all those lil 4cl to shame! :D

Accord Vti 9.3lt /100ks
Accord V6 10.6lt /100ks
Also the dealers are not allowed to put leather on accord VTi's now. This is because of the side inpact airbags. We got a memo the other day saying we are to stop doing this as its not ADR compliant
If u want leather u have to get the V6L
Hope this helps.

If you were deciding between the V6 and the Euro, then it is a decision swaying towards the V6 for your requirements. But if it is the VTi and the Euro, the only advantage of the VTi is rear passenger space. You get a bit more foot room and I think shoulder room too. In the front, it is the same, except that the VTi's windscreen is further away from you and you are slightly farther away from the front passenger. Smoothness-wise, I think they are similar, maybe with the VTi getting a slight edge since the K24 in that car doesn't have VTEC on the exhaust side, thus less vibration and noise.
Fuel consumption though, I suspect the K24 in the Euro is better than the one in the VTi. I drive a 6MT, and I get good mileage. Usually you can't get anywhere near the claimed fuel consumption sticker, but I keep getting those figures. I think the Euro's fuel consumption is somehow overstated.
I get 9.0-10.1L/100km with mixed driving in the eastern surburbs and stints across the Harbour Tunnel. On 100% highway, I have achieved 7.0L/100km. 100% surburb driving, 10.7-11L/100km.
I just went to Blue mountains. The trip there and back, some redlines and twisties in 2nd and 3rd gear on Megalong road, and I still got 8.3L/100km

To be honest, the only reason Thailand made Accord has become unique is because hardly anyone likes the way it looks.
I don't know how old you are, but unless you are like 50+ years old, I don't see a reason why you would get it over the Euro.
If Euro seems too common, I'd look at other cars altogether instead of getting the Accord. I just hate the way it looks. sorry to the owners of Accord. :D
