i've got a 10" pioneer sub in the boot of the car. the sub box is closed up (fully sealed). since the jazz is hatch back. it subs sound blocky/stuffy..
do u think it'll be a good idea if i were to drill a hole on the side to let air out. lets jst say the hole about 10cm

cheers

No...don't do it...a hole will just f*ck up the sound completely....

Just hold out until Sunday and I'll check it all over for you OK (I used to work in a car audio shop)

Is the sub box a custom designed one or is it a prefabricated box like 'Beva' for example?

If it's a custom box them it should of been built to spec for the sub.

If prefabricated, then the box might be either too small or too large for the sub and hense the sub will not perform to its optimal capabilities.

The amp has a lot to do with the way the sub performs also. The way it can control rapid start/stop movements i.e. damping factor capabilities. If its a cheap and nasty amp then your not giving the sub enough life to work properly. If a well known brand then it may also be set up incorrectly.

About drilling a hole in the box, that can be debated. Ported enclosures built correctly can sound fantastic. Built incorrectly they can damage your amp and also destroy your sub. Be very careful with ported boxes...

Drilling a hole is one thing....a properly tuned ported box is something completely different...

Hatch backs are known for being the best thing ever for subs, face it backwards, and it will sound better.
