Ah G'day fellow Honda drivers

Just want to know another thing this time about the size of your wheels :D

What is the best size for cornering hard and speeding alot :p
which is better going 15's or 16's!?

Thanks

Both are fine in my books - not too big in terms of performance. If I had the spare cash, I'd go up to 16s and keep my 15s for the track.

If you want performance, look no futher than 15s.

15's of the same wheel are lighter and tyres will be cheaper too.

heh, soz bout quick hijack  but

compared to 16s are 17s really that cumbersome?
coz i hear heaps of ppl sayin that.

just findin out now for when i *eventually* get new rims, and i wont be trackin at all, but still want some road performance. wat do u's think?

yeh mate fortunately hondas look kick arse with 15's. so i would stick with them for a few reasons- handling better, tires will be way cheaper for 15's so you could afford really good tires. and they dont stand out to the cops that much compared to something with 17's/18's

i think 16's would be my limit, but for the difference in price of the rims and the tires i would be going 15's... get lightweight too.

In my personal opinion, I reckon 16's because you'll have a stiffer side wall, which helps in the twisties.

I personally have 17s on my car and have have no problems. The tyres I have aren't too pricey, and aren't too bad either. The ride is a bit firmer, but then I'd rather have a firm ride that is fun in the corners, than a soft ride that hates turns.

depends on the civic..
15's look big on EGs...
15's dont look as big on the new civics...
i dotn think 15's are much better than 16's in performance.. just that its hell cheaper to run 15's cause the tyres are cheaper..
actually 16's might handle better as they ahve a less tyre fold..if u can afford the tyres..

bugger it, i'm getting 17s, i don't do track work (not yet anyway), and 17" tyres aren't that expensive these days

i'm thinking of getting RS-GT's from ozzy tyres in a shadow chrome.... any opinions?

hi
i had 16's then went up to 17's, reason being was not that much different in price anyway. and yeh, if you don't track it, go for as big as you like

personally i feel ride quality on 17s is about the same as 16s (people may disagree with me on this)

but guess what? i am thinking of changing size yet again. go down lower to............15s!!!!!!!!!!!

Nuttz
17-06-2005, 11:33 PM
id go 16's

u can get some thinner and wider tyres on it for better handling. with only little affect on acceleration.

clikz
17-06-2005, 11:52 PM
Id prefer 15s personally
I think 15s are a decent size for looks and it doesnt compensate on handling

hahah so much talk just on size.. i forgot the first question!

mate to be honest if you dont track, just street use.. get wateva size you want. whether 15,16,17... just get good tyres (bridgestone g3, toyo tpg, etc etc,,) and you'll be alright. wateva you fink looks nice on your car and your happie with it get that..

cuz say you get 15' cuz evryone says.. and then you fink it looks tiny on your car.. your gonna be dissapointed and probably end up selling it and gettin 16 or 17 laters... eg's with 15's doesnt give the same effect as ek'swith 15's. etc

but when you track most people would say 15. and yes the cost of tires.. big thing if you get semi's etc... for track..

for EF, EG, EK
15inch for fun and 16inch for looks

yeah the new civic needs 16inch for fun and 17inch+ for looks
15inch just looks too small on it.

doesnt matter really, if you're going for performance, then choose the lighter set. Going for looks I'd normally say the bogger the better, but then some big wheels are plain butt ugly. I went to tempe today and they only had like 5 sets of wheels to suit my car...... all horrible.....

yes. BUT you need to shave the ITR caliper or else you need to run a 10mm or 15mm spacer.

Why would u want to run ITR brakes? how much power are you making?

wouldn't 16's be better than 15's for handling and traction and stuff cause of the bigger contact surface?(Obviously not much but every little bit counts right?) I got 205/45/16 on my ef and it handles awesome

ey BSRacer did u buy them rims from a dude with net nickname "BUMOTHOLOGY" he has a red crx. Nice ride btw.
Personally 15" is too small and just plain yuck. U know the saying size does matter and i would always go big. Not massive to be rubbing up all over the gaurds. But my choice would be 16" a nice bigger size to fill the guard but no so much so if u know wat i mean.

Yer got em from him. If they are the right 15s yer (love that JDM if you hadn't already guessed :) ). If I hadn't gotten the mugens I would have gone for 16's. I'm a sucker for anything with a polished lip tho :)

i got 15" .. cheaper rims, cheaper tyres, don't look small on my EG, better performance compared to my stocks.

Recommend 15s.

Spacers are very illegal so i wouldn't recommend them... If you want to have enough space for a different brake setup don't worry bout the diameter so much as the offset. If you're planning to fit bigger calipers later, get a bigger offset now.

As for size, I've been told (by Wyn I think..) that with 16s, there can be some rubbing at full lock if the car has any changes to the castor angle (like you get with the Whiteline Handling kit).. I'd still go for 16s tho :)

to defend my position here - i did it for two reasons:

1.) to prevent bastards form stealing a set of my precious rims
2.) to prevent scratching a good set of rims (which luckily i did after i drifted into a kerb the other night and scratched my left Racing Hart up!!)
