it seems that most accessories and parts available that i have seen are all for the b series engines

im starting to think there is a conspiracy against the other engine types...

engine swappin is an extremely popular option to take...
b series aftermarket parts are much more readily available too

Matteo,

there are some ppl in Perth that run the SOHC Vtecs.. and run them quick!
Check out Vtechnique... vtechnique.com - a Perth based club that caters for Vtec Civics.

forums are at: http://clubcivic.mybesthost.com/phpBB2/index.php

you can get some good gains even out of the SOHC.

may look at getting a new air filter & short shifter (i assume it comes with installation details) ...nice site by the way egSi

someone was also telling me, that the standard intake on the civic is pretty much good enough (aside from replacing the filter)

some general info/recommendations would be nice

as at the moment, i just want to do some minor things to the car, quick & easy to get a little more out of it at the moment

Speed isn't the only thing to consider tho...

If you're looking into modifications - invest in a good suspension setup - and watch the other cars dissapear as you flog your little 1.6 around corners!

just as a basis... you can always get intake, extractors and exhaust. Cam and Cam Gear and a piggy back ECU (Vafc) will always allow for more power. Cam gear alone can give between 4-9hp and a good cam can give up to 30% more power... depending of course how hard you go with the cam - there are other mods needed.

Simon from Vtechnique ran a 1.6 SOHC (nonvtec i believe) - had toda cam, ecu.. all other bits - one QUICK civic!

im pining over the same issue atm. my engine is nearing 200thou and rather than fork out for a rebuild, it'd be cheaper for me to throw in a B

true
my dad's ford telstar has lasted beyond 300,000
he now traded it in at honda dealership for $500 for an astra

i can only hope my honda lasts that long, by then i will probabyly be able to afford a whole new car, although it may still be quite tempting to put in a B series engine even by then
