I just got canaried (is that how you spell it?) the other day one of the "problems" being the car too low. The only part of the car that is to low is the catalytic converter (I saw where the cop checked it). Are there any cats out there that are a bit "flatter" or something (hope you know what I mean).

not really. Raise the car via higher springs is the cheapest / easiest option.

Otherwise , reweld up the piping so the cat sits higher up ( not recommended ) .

That's not entirely true ben, it depends how much higher he needs to go and how big this current cat is, I'm sure some of the high flow ones are a bit smaller than stock. However I don't think your going to gain many extra centimetres of clearance.

Hmm...new cat = $200+ ish ?!? the B pipe COULD be rewelded to pull the cat up slightly or a different one fitted but as you said its probably not enough to warrant another few cms in clearance.

Your car must be very low for the cat to be hangning THAT low ( under the legal limit) - it is usually the hotdog/resonator that hangs lower than any other part of the system.

could be they didn't put the cat in properly or there isn't enough space for the cat where they put it.

Go to an exhaust and they will tell you what they can do. Most places will give you a free quote.

car is too low... haha speakin from experience... therefore cat and resonator is also cm away from destruction...

a new cat is $300 or there abouts... i had to get mined checked out after an old pacific highway cruise... smashed!!

get a new cat and then raise the car... theres not too much you can do...

it's only about a centimetre maybe two. Apparently the cop that done me is notorious for canaries. It was the knox area. his name is "pettet".

exactly the same happened to me few weeks ago.....

the cat flanges were the lowest part!

just raise the car with the standard springs for the RWC then just dump it again after you get the defect cleared. its the cheapest and easiest option mate.

Autobarn used to and still do in some stores have small spring compressors/raises which im sure were made for the intention of getting canaries of cars, they basically have t a bit that goes into your spring and then 2 threads where you adjust it from, u should be able to get a good few cms out of it and its highly doubtfull if you put em in the right place to be able to get picked up on it, though i would not recomend driving around to mcuh with em just enough to get the car back on the road, far cheaper than spring swaping or changin cats

Thanks for all the advice but the exhaust joint I went to is just gonna bend and reweld the pipes around the cat and strap on a new muffler. I'm pissed as though, cause I need a roadworthy, the guy at the exhaust joint reckons I may need new engine mounts, which sucks like a mo fo cause if the cars not fixed by this thursday she's unroadworthy. And yes it's black.
