a larger-than-stock muffler amplifies the sounds emitted from the car....think about that before u buy a huge cannon for ur auto :P

there are NO gains on any muffler really - so jsut get whatever one you want / looks best - and weld it up.

Don't waste your money. A sports exhaust with auto sounds like shite unless you're thrashing the car off the lights. When cruising at low revs it always sounds like a fart. If you want a nice noise just install a pod filter.

depends on what kinda cop pulls you over! lol some might say that it is, but then you could argue (id say unsucsessfully) that you are just trying to improve fuel efficiency and had no idea it improved performance of the engine (even though it is ever so slightly). Doubt theyd agree though. If you're that worried about it just install a k&n panel filter in your airbox as it is. It'll do the same thing as the pod, theres only a slight difference between the sound and gain from the two coz glis arent exactly a powerhouse, i should know i drive one! lol

a pod filter is the circular type filter you see people replace their airbox with entirely. They do this because it can breathe better than the airbox as it's (shall we say, vented area) has more surface area than a flat panel filter (which is found inside your airobx). With low hp cars, wether or not you use a panel or pod filter doesnt really matter that much, only your brand choice. I choose K&N filters because they breathe really well, but others use brands such as blitz, i dont know about their performance as i dont have one. On my car I have a K&N pod filter, it cost about 150 to buy all the parts, which i fitted myself. An alternative to this is buying a panel filter to replace your factory panel filter inside your airbox. This is not only cheaper, but also more 'legal' lol. Because the civic gli is low hp, wether you choose to use a pod or panel filter wont affect it greatly.

 great info.. well den i go n buy the pod filter den.. hmm last question ~ how abt the
AIR FILTER PIPE ? do they really go with the air filter? or ish realli doent matter~

mugeneration

depends on how your engine is set up. The main problem with putting a pod filter on is that the air sensor etc have to be connected to it. On mine they were all connected to a rubber segment which lead to the airbox, so when i removed the airbox all i had to do was put a small piece of piping on the end to attach the pod to. Im having trouble attaching images at the moment, but if you look in my pictures in my profile thingy ill post it up in there to show you what ive done. If your electrics are in your airbox or somewhere else that is being replaced then you need to get the intake piping along with the pod filter.

i know 2 guys that work there, one by the name of James and another by the name of John. They both look after me when i go there. $100 was for the Autotechnica cannon muffler and tip. Then i went to livo exhaust and they welded it on for me. I haven't had any problems with it even after getting the full exhaust system done :)

Are you sure the one you're getting from car mate is just muffler or actual catback? I think the guy who went to windsor exhaust meant that he bought his own muffler and got them to fit it for $65.

hmm yeah thats what i thought cause no way u can get a muffler + installation for $65. im going liverpool exhaust tomorrow to get a sports muffler (sports box) or whateva they wanna call it down there , i've heard liv exhaust does a good job and its only $140 for the sports muffler with any tip.

Hi... Im driving a 92 D15b4. had the extractors and the whole exhaust piping changed with a 2.25 cannon. Its an auto though. and a K&N drop in panel filter. Auto is definitely not as fun but i have tried giving my friend's GLI and CXi a go.. happy to say, i managed to win them. :) But of course thats my limit already. SI eats me easily... THEREFORE... im saving up for a B18CR or B16 conversion.... hope that day will come soon. but for the time being, im getting my struts(whiteline) soon... And oh ya... the sound of the cannon aint that bad for me. its a superX replica from my friend shop. in fact i have some friends praising the sound.
